Every day, after that, there was always a letter waiting for me by the time I got to school. And every day, Ashton would watch me read them from his spot across the hall. He'd stand, in his group of friends next to the water fountain and stare right at me.
No matter how early I got to school, Ashton always beat me; the note was already in it's place.
Sometimes they were notes cursing my good looks, other times they were stories. Sometimes he would just talk. But he would also tell me about myself, which surprised me a lot. But he remembered every single thing about me, like he was student and I was his favorite subject.
Luke.
When you space out, which you do a lot, your eyes get a little bit darker, which makes my heart speed up.
But that's not what I'm writing to tell you about today. I'm writing to tell you about the first day I saw you. I don't think you remember it, but I do.
You had a green dinosaur shirt on and black jeans and light up sketchers. It was kindergarten. You were so excited. You got sat next to Calum cause your last names, which I assume was the beginning of your friendship. And the teacher said we were gonna be in groups and do a fun game. Our group was me, Tyler, Calum, and you.
I couldn't take my eyes off you from the minute you walked in, so I was excited to be in a group with you. There was just something different about you. Something about your smile that made me want to do a triple backflip to see it and make you clap for me. Something about the shine in your eyes that made the sun seem like a dim lightbulb.
And I don't even remember the game we played cause I was too busy watching you. But after that, we got to color, and you were singing. And that was when I knew I was screwed. I knew for as long as I lived, I'd follow you blind anywhere.
And my mum always told me not get starry eyed over someone, especially if it blinds you to someone really important. But, fuck, Luke, when it comes to you? I've got galaxies in my eyes. You put them there. I'd do anything for you. That sounds pretty pathetic, but I would.
Ash.
That was the letter I decided to write back.
