Later that day.
THE BROOKS HOTEL.
"Is our meet up trending on twitter yet?" Luke asks walking into the room when his twin brother Jai, older brother Beau and their friends James and Skip are all sitting around a computer
"It's second worldwide" Beau replies
"What's first?"
"R.I.P Maddy" Beau replies clicking on the trend
Instantly thousands of tweets fill his screen constantly updating every second, he freezes the screen allowing a chance to read some of the tweets when one appeared at the top with a link to a picture
"I love you Maddy, you made everyone smile everyday, we promise to look after Emily. I know you'll always be looking over us" Beau read out from the screen
"What's that?" Luke said turning round hearing the name Emily
"Wait I'll click on the picture"
The picture takes a couple seconds to load but it soon appears on the screen, Luke leans over the bed staring at the screen, there is Emily and obviously Maddy as they know from the tweet completely identical hugging outside a shopping centre
"Isn't that the girl from earlier Luke?" Skip asks turning around to face him
"Her sister is dead?" Luke asks looking closer reading the tweet over and over again "so that's why she was upset earlier"
Luke's POV.
I couldn't believe what I was reading, I knew she was upset but I didn't expect the reason to be something like that. Her indentical twin, I couldn't imagine losing Jai, we had been together through everything, we even came from the same egg and now we've been together for 17 year, losing him would be losing a part of me.
"didn't you know?" Jai asks turning around to face me and I just shake my head in response as I couldn't even find the words to reply
Emily's POV.
"I'm home mum, I'll put the shopping away" I called as I walk through the door
"here let me give you a hand" she called back from upstairs and soon she came bouncy down the stairs looking the happiest most energetic she had been since we lost Maddy
"wow, someones bubbly"
"I guess that sleep just made me feel better" she said as she began frantically pulling items from the bags and almost chucking them into the cupboards
"are you sure that's it?" I grabbed her arm and pulled her towards me so I had eye contact with her. She was extremely pale yet her eyes bloodshot with a strong red "please tell me mum" I begged as a tear fell down my cheek
She looked down at her feet trying to avoid the questions "I.. I took some pills, just a couple though" she spoke so quickly but I knew exactly what she said
"how many?" I demanded a answer, she had done this before but I'd always have Maddy to help, now I had to do this all by myself and I didn't know how to cope "come on let's go to the toilet, you're going to have to make yourself sick"
I held her thin blond hair back as she leant over the toilet making sure all the pills were out her system.
"I can't be sick anymore" she pleaded wiping a tissue over her mouth "let me just go to bed and sleep it off, please" she begged
"I love you" I tucked the covers up around her and placed a glass of water beside her bed for when she woke up "sleep tight"
Once all the unpacking was done I then climbed back into my bed and grabbed my phone from the side
[14] missed calls
[67] new messages
This was just from today.
I scrolled quickly through the messages ignoring the majority then headed onto twitter #ripMaddy was still the number one world wide trend even after 23 days, it warmed my heart knowing how loved she was. I scrolled through the tweets when one caught my eye @lukebrooks tweeted 30minutes ago: although we're all saddened by the loss of the beautiful Maddy I want to dedicate my tweet to Emily, her amazing sister who is so strong still despite what's happened I am truly inspired by her.
A tear rolled down my cheek at the heartfelt message left by Luke when a new direct message appeared in her inbox
Luke Brooks: I hope you don't mind me tweeting that but you really are a amazing girl and you should be so proud of yourself for coping so well despite what's happened. Jai is my identical twin and I can't even begin to imagine what you've gone through but I'll always be here for you if you ever need me.
For the first time in 23 days I smiled, it wasn't forced or faked it was a real smile.
I couldn't even find the words to thank him for everything he has done because I don't even think he realises what a big impact such a selfless good deed had done. I wanted to thank him, honestly I wanted to just run up and jump into his arms and just say I appreciate everything, but I couldn't so a simple reply would have to do although I feel he deserved so much more than that
Emily May: Thank you for everything Luke, you really don't understand how amazing you have been. These times are hard but I know with my mum, close friends and of course Maddy looking over me, I will be able to get through this.
Luke Brooks: You really are amazing Emily.
His last words lingered in my mind for the rest of the day, I just couldn't stop thinking about him. It must have been the longest I hadn't thought of Maddy but Luke, he was amazing. So different from other boys, he was unique, caring and beautiful.
Luke Brooks: I go home the day after tomorrow, please spend tomorrow with me?
