I lay there, sometimes we need boosts. Boosts that will lead us somewhere...That somewhere would be a nice ranch, somewhat in Texas. Then my mind came back to me. In the middle of a war torn city. Blood was over me, and I felt un-conscious. I was unaware of what the Generals were talking about, but I saw him run in. He had no arm, he called for Alyson. He was a General himself, not a rookie. He called, and called with no hope, he needed Alyson. Alyson just stood there, unaware of whom he is. He then lay, motionless. I thought back to the ranch, and how dreams cannot come true. The sky turned black, the trees around all bristled in the slight breeze, that again got my thinking...I needed to fight.
I ran out, leaving the Generals and Sky marshal to deal with the wounded man. I grabbed my Morita and led two of my friends, who I fought beside many a time and we charged into gunfire. "Hoorah, my apes, we will live forever!" That phrase often got my thinking to my school days, a boy who often was called a monkey in our English class. Where he is now I don't know.
"Dude, what should we do?" One of my friends said.
"How should I know?" I replied, how would I of known, "I am only a private!"
"There, a commander!" My other friend stated.
The three of us ran to the commander, we saw loads of soldiers standing around waiting for orders. And others running to the barracks and armoury getting their things.
"Sir, the three of us want to know what we can do. Hardnut here is a sniper and Burner is a medic."
"Well, at the moment we are waiting to establish contact with scouts." The commander replied with a vicious tone, clearly one of the commanders not to mess with. Several of the Generals came out of the command centre; in fact the only noticeable generals still in the command centre were Poppy, the wounded one and Andy, otherwise known as Snake Storm.
"All units, all units" we overheard on the intercom, "Prepare to move out into the mountains." I noticed the look on the commander's face, "We have taken out the snipers but our scouts report huge fleet forces taking off and leaving the atmosphere, but they have left behind a ton of equipment." I thought for a second, how could a sniper from 37 miles away blow an arm off from a person who is clearly an expert fighter?
"Hey, Hunter, notice that guy over' there?" Burner clearly wanted to know what the person was doing, crawling around in a dark suit...
"What about him?" I replied, but I knew, we all knew.
"Get down!" One of the Generals shouted, but it was too late. The explosion from the crawling person blasted everyone. We all felt the burn. Flames creped around us, Burner got up and dragged me away from the fire, but I saw Hardnut's face. He pleaded for help. I knew I could get up, so I got up, with Burner we dragged Hardnut away from the fire. Burner treated the poor soul and I ran over to help the commander. I saw one hundred soldiers get up, but another thousand lay on the ground. I noticed one of the Generals get up, and try to help the sky marshal. Soldiers spilt out of the barracks and got to walls, some medics ran around the wounded hoping to find someone who can be helped. I saw my girlfriend among the soldiers running to the walls; each wall stood 50 metres high with only stairs to climb. On the wall I noticed a thousand more troopers, I didn't see any of their faces, but I knew they were all frightened.
I looked back to the Sky marshal, being helped up by two soldiers and a General. The General looked young, but was still older than myself. I knew his name, but people just call him Smelly. He doesn't mind the name but it if I was called it I would defiantly throw a thermal grenade at the preacher. The sky marshal himself is a fine man, around 50 years old and allot of experience. The two soldiers I don't know, however they looked as if they were experienced. Then I noticed the gold V shape, meaning Special Service Unit personal. The most elite in the whole army.
An hour later there was still chaos. The scouts are still reporting the all clear and giving information as soon as they get it. All the troopers who were injured were at the hospital, and all the troopers who were dead were now in the ocean. Among the dead were five Generals, known by Sysmic, Truman, Masteryam, Killercat and Sonae. It makes you wonder if other generals, like Sanaan and Tangodrink, knew this was coming so they retired early. In the hospital were five other Generals, Razak, Horatio, Ocean, Sqweebs and Puppier. We all knew who the General without the arm was, General Griffin. But Alyson and Andy were still working with him. General Watkins and the Sky marshal were giving out orders. The troopers on the wall stood guard waiting for any activity. Three hundred other troopers stood in line, waiting for their orders. Among them were Hardnut, Burner and I.
"All units, all units, Devil brigade and Killer brigade stay at base. Most of you are on the walls but any others need to go on walls. Leftover brigade and lucky brigade, you are going to the mountains. Leftover will use the skimmer; Lucky will take IFV's, Gators and Buggies. Live forever apes!"
As if on cue, all the troopers shouted "Oohah!" the motto for the mobile infantry. The three of us got into an IFV with seven other people and a driver. There were nine other IFVs, ten buggies and two gators. Gators are jeeps which are quick and are usually driven by Spearhead or Commanders and higher ranks. I noticed the stern commander in our IFV. "All right guys, I know what you are thinking, but we will live. I promise, and I keep my promises."
We drove for about half an hour. Enough time to get to the mountains, One of the IFVs stayed back. We drove further, reaching an abandoned warehouse. Then we were attacked.
