It was almost nine o'clock, eight fiftysix to be exact. My mom was probably twenty feet away from stepping into the house and starting all the BS with her boyfriend James. I was laying across my bed doing my chemistry homework about to get ready for the crack heads gone wild series that goes on at my house every night at nine o'clock.
I hopped up quickly to turn on my radio as loud as it can go to cover up all the banging and yelling, that was about to go down. I put in my hot beats mix tape that I had brought from the bootleg CD and DVD man that hung out by the peach store on Lem street. Down For You by Rich Homey Quan ft Lynn Tate blasted through the speakers. "No matter the circumstance i got yo back forever." I sung the lyrics just like Lynn Tate. I swear, I could be a Beyonce up in here but noone would every know because of my stage fright.
I turned down the radio just a little bit to be sure that the arguing had started, and it did. I was getting tired of all the fighting but every time I try to help my mom she doesn't want my help because I was sure to get beaten as well. So I just stayed in my room and never come out. I hardly every see my mom.
At this point, my CD had went through three songs and the fighting hadn't ended yet. I guess it's time for my sneak out because this isn't going anywhere. I thought. And in no time, I slipped on my pink sweats and hoodie to match, my brown no call boots and walked out the door. I was tired of going to the lake and since time had changed back it was too dark outside. I was not about to be in them dark woods. Maybe I can swing by niggaville to see if any of my school friends were hanging out there. I thought.
Niggaville was not that far away but it was far enough. I had plenty of time because I'm sure mom won't be trying to check on me and I never want to even look at James since that night he was drunk and high at the same time and said he wanted to read me a bed time story. I'm not stupid. What forty three year old drunk and high man would want to read a fifteen year old the three little pigs. What the heck. I was scared that he would touch me with his filthy hands and I jumped out my window and ran to the white neighbors house and I didn't come back till he was sober. Every since that night I was never able to look him in the eyes and I never came near him again. That's another reason why I never come out my room and I keep my door locked.
I was right at the entrance of niggaville after fifteen minutes of walking. My legs were wobbly because I was walking fast. Not because I was scared but because I just rather be at my destination quickly. When I got to the back apartments, it was so many people standing outside. It was only a Thursday but it looked like a Friday by the way these people were acting. Usually on Fridays, it's parties goin on in niggaville. Every girl dressed like a ho and every guy dressed like a thug. That's exactly what it looks like tonight. If I would have knew it was a Thursday party going on, I would have dressed a little better.
I looked around to my left and my right. I saw dudes sitting on top of cars smoking weed with the music blasting. Girls were either dancing to the music, smoking with the guys, or tryna get their ho on.
One of the girls stopped dancing and starred at me then she yelled, "Hey Jewel!"
I noticed the voice right away. It was one of my homegirls from school. I started walking toward her and she met me half way. "Wussup, Mane?" I said softly as if she could hear me over the loud music. To my surprise, she did.
"What made Mrs Goodie Two Shoes come out the house to join the party?" She asked
"Girl if you only knew." I replied referring to the war going on at my house. I didn't want her to ask about it so I changed the subject very quickly "So what's goin on here?" I said, louder than the first time I spoke.
"It's a party that I heard about and just heading through" she said, shaking her head. "Come on and enjoy yourself girl" she said pulling me towards the car with the dudes sitting on it smoking.
It was not my intentions to come party with Mane but, I guess I should have fun while I have the chance.
