Kellin's POVMonday
At break I went to the music room and brought Jinx with me, despite how nervous and protestant she was about meeting Justin and Jack. But when we got there - no one was there for her to meet anyway.
Okay, so they were definitely avoiding me. And what irked me was that I didn't have any classes with either of them, so it was easy for them to do so. I had no idea where they could be. This school was like a maze and they knew it better than I did, so if they didn't want to be found, they wouldn't be found.
Nevertheless, we sat down outside the music room against the wall, and propped our bags up next to us.
"I'm sorry." She said, begrudgingly, breaking the silence. "For breaking up you and your friends."
I shrugged. "It's fine. If that's all it took to make us part ways, then maybe they weren't such good friends anyways."
She still looked uncomfortable. "What makes you think I won't be any different?" She said daringly.
"I don't know." I said doubtfully. "Well, are you going to just up and leave?"
What scared me was the fact that she didn't answer my question. She avoided it. "Sometimes things happen." She said vaguely. I decided to drop that topic before she could hurt me and say; 'I'd leave you easily.' Or something along those lines.
"Jesus. No wonder you don't keep your friends." I joked.
She chuckled. "Well I actually do have one friend. I don't even know if they're still my friend; they probably think I'm ignoring them. I don't know their phone number, and my phone got taken away after the Walmart thing."
"Just look up their name in the phone book." I said in a 'duh' tone.
"Um... It's not as simple as that. He's pretty famous." He? No. No thanks, that guy can just piss off, because I honestly did not need any competition.
"What's he famous for?" I asked casually.
Jinx smiled. I hated the way this guy seemed to make her smile too. "He's in a band."
I tried to make my tone of voice teasing, but it ending up sounding weird since I was really worried at the same time. I was just digging more more information. "I thought you were bad at making friends, keeping them, and being one."
"He's my cousin." She said, relieving me. "So it wasn't that bloody hard."
Phew. He was only her cousin. That was a load off my chest.
Our conversation for the rest of break was casual, as we both tried to ignore the whole Justin and Jack dilemma that was going on. As the bell rang, we decided to come back at lunch and see if they were there then; hoping we could resolve things.
On the way to our fourth class, English, I realized that I hadn't written the essay I was meant to write. Fuck.
"Jinx. Did you write that essay?" I asked.
"Couldn't be bothered. Did you?" She replied.
I shook my head. "Nope, I forgot. What should we do?"
