»» CarsonHer text message runs through my tossled mind. How did she find out?! Christina probably told her because I so stupidly admitted everything to her, I should've known she would gossip my secret to her. Mae's her best friend, she cares about her more than me.
Practice has ended and I'm in the locker room, deep in thought. Suddenly the sound of a yelling man shouting my name awoken me from my daydream.
"Dagger! In my office! Now!" Coach screams and like an obedient puppy, I stand up from where I sat.
"Don't get killed kid." Bobby mumbles under his breath as I begin to walk towards the office.
When I come in, my legs feel numb, getting called to your coaches office is almost as bad as getting sent to the principals office - except worse.
"You wanted to see me?" I stutter hesitantly.
"Ahh yes, Dagger, I have some news for you." Coach sits on the edge of his crisp desk and crosses his arms against his chest.
I examine his office, it's very neat, with a wooden desk in the middle, papers stacked neatly, and thousands of photos from past games and teammates are hung on the walls. It's nice, I will admit that.
"Okay." I breathe.
"You see, there are some scouts that have been in the US for awhile now, they've come from Europe. They are on the look out for a new recruit, and they've asked for you. I've never told you this but they have been to several of the games and think you're the one they need." Coach explains carefully.
"Okay, what team do they coach?" I question.
"FC Barcelona."
My jaw drops open, "WHAT?! Wait! FC Barcelona wants me to play for them?!"
Coach laughs, "well yeah. And they need an answer preferably soon."
"A million times YES!" I shriek.
Coaches smile soon fades away into concern, "hold up now Dagger, if you say yes to them, you'd be moving all the way to Europe. That's a big decision to make, you can't rush into something this huge. You need time to think it over and talk about it with family and friends. Because if you do accept the offer, you'd be leaving everything you love and that's harder than you know."
I nod my head in understanding, "yes sir, I promise I will."
I realize my talk is done so I start my way out the door but an urgent call behind me has me spin around on my heals.
"And Carson, great job, you deserve this." Coach grins softly at me then I return his smile and shuffle out, feeling a weight of happiness and sadness all at the same time.
