Melanie's POV
"It's a pleasure to meet you Melanie, I can already tell we're gonna be great friends!"
Harry sugarcoats every word and smirks at me, he knows exactly what he did to me this morning and obviously feels no remorse for it.
Two can play this game, I think to myself. I put on my sweetest voice possible.
"Oh yes Harry! I can't wait to see the rest of this school, and seeing it with you is going to be even better!"
The guidance counselor is completely oblivious to the amount of sarcasm in my tone.
"Oh good, you two are getting along already! Now off you two go, explore the school!"
The guidance counselor shoos us out of her office like we're little puppies. Although I don't overly like her and her bucket load of cheeriness, I would pick her over douchebag green eyes any day.
"Hey Mel, looks like you've got something on your shirt." Harry says grinning like the devil he is.
"Oh, I ran into some dick this morning who has absolutely no manners. You wouldn't happen to know who he is would you?"
Harry smiles sweetly, "Who would do such a thing to a nice young lady like yourself?!"
"You know what Harry, let's cut the crap. Besides teachers, you're the only student I've had any interaction with and it was enough to make me despise the entire school. So if you would please just show me where my classes are then we never need to even speak again."
It felt so good to get all that out. And although I knew he was rude I didn't expect another snarky reply after my outburst.
"Oh but Melanie, you can't get rid of me that easily. You're forgetting that we're buddies now. It's my job to take care of you and protect you from all the douches around school like the one who spilled coffee on you!"
Harry smirked at me and I am surprised I didn't punch him. The fucking nerve of some people. Well, I am not going to let him ruin my fifth school of the year. I'll just be as nice as possible, more like as least bitchy as possible.
"Okay, fine. We'll do this your way, Harry. Are you going to be a gentleman and escort me to first period?"
Harry grins like he can't hear the extreme sarcasm in my voice. "I would like nothing better Mel!"
"God, stop calling me Mel. Only my friends can call me that and you are clearly not my friend."
Harry looked hurt. "Hey, Mel I'm actually sorry about earlier. I was in a really pissy mood because of some shit that happened at home this morning and running into you kinda just set me off. You were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Apology accepted?"
"I'll consider accepting your apology if you stop calling me Mel." I can't help but be difficult. I can tell he's truly sorry but that doesn't change the fact that my second outfit of the day is ruined.
"Hmmm that's a tough choice. But, it's your own fault if you don't accept my apology and I'll call you whatever I damn well please; after all we are best friends, Mel!"
Harry winks and starts walking down the hall. God, even if he's sorry he's still a major pain in the ass. I sling my bag over my shoulder and hurry to catch up to him.
"Fine. I accept your apology. But if anyone asks about my shirt you have to tell them it's your fault. And also where are we going?"
Harry grins, "Good! Oh, well our first period is AP Calc but I've got somewhere much more exciting I would like to take you!"
