Melanie's POV
Ever since Harry went off on me for looking at his phone when he was freaking out he's been giving me the cold shoulder. At first it was fine because I hadn't wanted to talk to him in the first place but now we're walking down to lunch and I'm finding myself missing his snarky comments.
"Harry I've said I'm sorry like a billion times, please forgive me? Next time I'll ask before I invade your personal business I promise!"
Harry sighs and looks over at me, running his fingers through his curls. "Fine, I forgive you, only because you forgave me about your shirt, so now we're even. Do you wanna go somewhere for lunch? This school food tastes like shit!"
I laugh. "Well I guess that's one thing that never changes between schools, the food always sucks! Where are we gonna go though?"
"Well, don't laugh but a lot of days I go through the McDonald's drive-thru and get a Happy Meal." Harry's eyes sparkle like a little kids.
"Harry you're such a baby! But greasy, bad for your health food sounds delicious right now so let's go! Do you wanna take my car or do you wanna drive?"
"You pay for the gas to get there and I'll buy the food, fair trade Mel?"
"Yeah sounds fair enough, are we really allowed to just leave though? None of my other schools let students leave to go get lunch."
Harry winks. "Remember? Everyone loves me!"
Apparently most people do love Harry because when we walked through the main office and the receptionist asked us where we were going he simply said 'lunch' and gave her a big grin and she told us to go enjoy ourselves. What a ladies man!
"Which car is yours Mel?" Harry's voice once again breaks through my thoughts, this time disrupting thoughts of how soft his curls would feel running through my fingers. What the hell Mel. Snap out of it. You're supposed to hate this kid. I glance down at my shirt and the sight of the stain instantly brings back my animosity towards him and all my previous thoughts are shattered.
"That one right there!" I say, pointing towards my baby, a sporty red Volkswagen. I saved up money from my summer job at a bookstore and money from birthdays and Christmas and stuff to have enough money to buy her. Although my mom still did pay half because she had promised she would if I kept my name on honor roll.
"Damn Mel, I was expecting some piece of shit car but this isn't so bad!" Harry climbs in the passengers seat and starts going through the large stack of CDs at his feet. I climb in and glance over at him.
"Oh, those are a bunch of CDs that my best friend Darbie made for me before I moved, she still sends me a new one in the mail occasionally too, you can pick one out if you want, I love them all!"
"Wow, this Darbie girl has a really great taste in music! She's honestly got a little bit of everything in these." Harry seems impressed by the eclectic mix that Darbie has made for me but he's right, she's got the best taste in music of anyone I know!
I start the car and begin backing out of the student parking lot as Harry opens one of the CD cases and slides it into the stereo system. Within seconds the familiar lines to the song Teenagers by My Chemical Romance fill the car. I can't help but smile when Harry starts singing along.
"You like it?" I ask him. "You bet, My Chemical Romance is such a great band!" he replies.
I laugh and start singing along as he reaches over and turns up the volume. As we drive Harry thankfully tells me wear to turn so we can get to McDonald's. I'm absolutely horrible with directions. Within seven minutes we pull up to the drive-thru.
