- Bella's POV ---
When I get to the Cullen's household to visit Edward, nobody meets me outside. What's going on? Why aren't they paying attention to me? I walk inside and Esme smiles sadly at me. I follow her to the den. There lays Janelle; I heard about Chanel being killed.
"She wakes today." Alice says. "Any moment."
--/ Janelle Whitlock's POV --/
The burn of venom spreads through my veins as the morphine burns off. The pain fills my body, but I don't scream. The morphine is morphing the outer pain I would experience if Carlisle didn't dope me up with morphine.
The sounds of voices sound around me. Bella Swan is here. She is marrying Edward in two days. I hear Alice talking about seeing me waking up today in a vision. Esme tells Jasper she is proud of his bravery for changing me. So, it's Jasper's venom spreading through me? I guess I'm officially Janelle Miley Whitlock.
Once the venom covers my still heart and spreads through the rest of my body, my eyes snap open. Everything is so much clearer in my new eyes. The family all gasp that I'm awake. A hand is reaching for me. I notice it's Jasper.
I slowly place my hand in his and he helps me stand. I look around the den and see it cleaned up from the medical supplies. I close my eyes as I hear Bella's thoughts. I guess I'm a shield too??
So she gets changed and not me? When can I stop being jealous.....
"Bella, don't be jealous." I speak, shocked by my sext voice. "I committed suicide. They won't let us die."
Her eyes widen. "You can read my thoughts?"
"She's a shield and a mind reader, Bella." Edward comments. "She can read everyone and everything's minds. Humans; shields; and animals."
Bella eyes me and I feel my throat burn. The smell of Bella's blood tempts me but Edward grabs my shoulders to hold me back. Bella's eyes grow in fear as she just stands there.
"Edward, I got her." Jasper grabs my arm. "Get Bella out of here. I need to bring Janelle hunting."
Edward grabs Bella's wrist and he gets her out of the house quickly. Jasper, Alice, and I flash into the trees. I smell fresh blood but Jasper blocks the path. I close my eyes and I smell something sweet.
The hunters won't find me, eating the grass like a good mountain lion, I haven't caught a rabbit in forever....
I growl lowly as I walk through the tall grass. I see a mountain lion munching on grass.
My belly hurts, so I need grass to settle it...
I crouch down and its head snaps in my direction.
Oh no, a hunter!"
It runs and I am right behind him. I leap on his back and I bite right into his neck. I drain him and I climb off of him, the burning in my throats going away.
"That was neat, how'd you know where he was?" Alice asks.
"I read his mind." I shrug. "I am a shield and a mind reader. I can read everyone's and everything's minds; everything being animals."
She smiles. "That's awesome. Let's show you the treaty before tomorrow, we decorate for Edwards wedding and try teaching Bella to walk in heels.
"I got Bella:" I say softly.
Emmett brings me out back to test my strength. He grabs a log and lays it on a tree stump. He join hands and he arm wrestle. I let him think he's beating me; then suddenly, I beat him without a problem.
"Boom, I win." I smirk.
Emmett stares at me wide eyed. "You're one strong newborn."
I smile before I smell Bella's intoxicating blood. She steps out back and she greets me.
"Isabella, I am sorry for almost attacking you." I smile. "I get to teach you to walk in heels tomorrow." I chirp before clapping.
Her face morphs to horror. "Can't I wear sneakers down the isle?"
"Heck no." I scowl. "Sneakers with a wedding dress? No ma'am."
Bella frowns and I just smirk widely. Jasper smiles at me, I have developed a friendship wth the major.
"Howdy. Major." I say, my other power being able to change my voice.
Jasper smiles. "Nice power, Janelle Miley Whitlock."
I bow. Alice smiles at me before everyone goes inside.
"I want to show you the river near La Push." Alice says.
I nod and I follow her outside. I see Paul's wolf on the other side of the river. He locks eyes with me and he howls. I flinch and cover my ears.
"Paul, my ears are still sensitive." I mutter.
He whimpers before walking into a bush. He comes out in human form. "Hey, Janelle. You look amazing."
I close my eyes and sniff the air. He stinks. "God, you stink."
He laughs and I see Sam step into view in human form. I gnarl my nose at then wet dog smell.
Wow, she looks better like this. --- Sam.
I smile. "I do look better like this, don't I Sam?"
He nods. "You do."
"You guys stink like wet dog." I mutter.
Thy chuckle before I flash back to the mansion. Bella smiles at me and I curtsy. I bring her to my room and I change. We sit on my bed and I cover her up.
"Go to sleep, Bella. Tomorrow will be a long day." I whisper.
I sit at my desk and I grab a book I got from Jasper's room. I open to the first page and I let the history book occupy me for the rest of the night.
