Janelle is a single mother to Chanel, without family support. Her mother, Malory, kicked Janelle out when Janelle told Malory the news. Janelle stayed in the motels her entire pregnancy before her grandmother, Joanne, took her in. Joanne is Janelle's dad's mom. Janelle's dad, David Milton, was killed in a motorcycle accident a few years recent.
