"YOU'RE thinking about last night, aren't you?"

Hope turned to look at Isaac who was sitting beside her on the bus. "Like you're not thinking about it either?" She asked, shaking her head. It was absolutely ridiculous that they had to go to the cross country meet after what had happened the night before.

She would have given anything to get out of it, but she couldn't really go up to Coach Finstock and tell him that she couldn't run because an Alpha pack was terrorizing the supernatural teenagers in Beacon Hills and had killed Derek Hale.

"I'm trying not to." Isaac said with a frown. "There's nothing we can do about it now."

The tribrid sighed and shifted her gaze to Boyd who was sitting in the seat directly in front of her. His feet were pressed flat on the ground, and his back was perfectly straight. His eyes were focused ahead of him, but Hope could tell that he was listening to Ethan, waiting for the Alpha to make the one comment that would send him off the edge.

Suddenly, the bus lurched to a stop and Hope looked out the window to see a line of traffic down the highway. "There's a jackknifed tractor a few Miles ahead." Isaac said, showing Hope the traffic alert he had gotten on his phone. "We could miss the meet."

Hope wasn't fully listening. Her bright eyes were focused on Boyd, a low growl escaping from his throat. His eyes had turned a bright yellow as he began to shift.

Before she could reach him however, Scott was beside him. "You have a plan? Tell me your brilliant plan, and I'll let go. What are you gonna do? Kill him, right here? And then what? What are you gonna do after that?" He asked, gripping his hand on Boyd's forearm.

"I don't care." The beta replied, preparing to lunge at Ethan. Scott pushed against him as Isaac leaned over the seat gripping at Boyd's shoulders. The latter's breathing was heavy with rage as he sent glares in the direction of Scott, Isaac, and Hope.

"I do." Scott said with a frown and as he leaned back, Hope noticed fresh blood dripping down the left side of his abdomen. The scarlet liquid causing a stain in his beige shirt. "You're still hurt." She said, and Scott immediately covered the wound with his jacket.

"I'm fine. Just give me a chance to figure something out, something that doesn't have to end with someone else dying." Scott said quietly, dismissing the young Beta's concern. Boyd nodded, and Scott returned to his seat sitting next to Stiles. For awhile, the back of the bus was trapped in a high tension silence.

The awkward tension was broken by Coach Finstock who was yelling at a boy named Jared who was about to throw up from car sickness. He then turned to address the rest of the cross-country members on the bus. "Now the rest of you, don't think we're gonna miss this meet because of a slight traffic jam, or a minor tornado warning, Jared. We're gonna make this thing. Nothing is gonna stop us! Stilinski, put your hand down!"

Stiles stood up, with his usual amount of awkwardness and faced Coach. "You know, there's, like, a food exit about a half a mile up. I don't know if we stop and then maybe..."

"We're not gonna stop." Coach quickly interrupted and Stiles sighed, ready to interject, "Stilinski! Shut it! Seriously! It's a little bus! Stop asking me questions!" Finstock said and sat down in his seat, clearly annoyed by all the teenagers around him.

"That's it." Stiles said suddenly. "I'm calling Lydia and Allison."

"How are they going to help back in Beacon Hills?" Scott asked

"They're not. They've been following us for hours." Stiles replied as if it were obvious.

Using her supernatural hearing, Hope zoned in on Stiles's phone conversation. It rang three times before Lydia picked up, "Hey, Stiles." She said casually. "Yeah, we're just about to walk into a movie, uh, you know, the popcorn and... "
