AS the black night fell upon them, casting California in a blanket of darkness, the musty old school bus pulled over at a motel for the night. The Glen Capri motel was nothing short of sketchy and for some reason, it carried the stench of death inside its walls. It was dimly lit by a neon 'vacancies' sign that shrouded the motel in an eerie glow.Getting off of the bus, Coach Finstock stood in front of the group with a false look of authority. He blew his whistle once, hoping to grab the kid's attention. "Listen up," He called, shouting over the students in the back who chose not to listen. "The meet's been pushed until tomorrow and this is the closest motel with the most vacancies and least amount of good judgment when it comes to accepting a bunch of degenerates like yourselves. "
The kids dispersed in pairs, heading into the motel after grabbing a room key from Coach Finstock. "You'll be pairing up. And know that I'll have no sexual perversions perpetrated by you little deviants. Got that? All of you keep your dirty little hands to your dirty little selves."
Hope frowned. The group was unevenly paired which meant that she would either have to room with somebody she wasn't really friends with or she would be forced to room alone in one of the creepy single rooms of the motel. She was left alone with a single room key spare Lydia and Allison who approached her with sweet smiles.
"I don't like this place," Lydia said, her eyes trained on the eerie hallway. "Hope, there's no way in hell you're sleeping in that motel room alone. You can stay with us."
They walked forward through the front door, making their way towards their room. "Don't worry Lydia," Allison told her. "It's only for one night."
"A lot can happen in one night," Lydia said with a frown as they walked inside.
HOPE lounged on the queen size bed, half asleep with the television on as Allison took a shower in the bathroom. Lydia had left only a few minutes ago to get new towels, and Hope was enjoying the quiet peacefulness of half sleep. Only, every few moments her stomach would rumble with the incessant noise of hunger. After a few minutes of the uncomfortable feeling, Hope got up to go downstairs and get a snack from the vending machine.
When she arrived, she saw Boyd who was also at the vending machine. The werewolf was staring through the glass his face blank, almost like he was stuck in some sort of a trance.
Hope looked at him with a backward glance not even noticing that Stiles had approached them. "Yo, hey you two." He said as Boyd inserted a dollar and pressed the buttons to dispense peanut butter crackers from the second row of snacks.
Stiles chuckled halfheartedly. "That's the same thing I was going to get."
Boyd released a low growl of disinterest as the crackers wedged themselves into the ring of the machine and got stuck.
Stiles stepped forward, placing his hands on either side of the machine. "Hang on Boyd. I have a patented method for this, don't worry."
As Stiles moved to shake the machine, Boyd sighed and struck his fist through the glass, shattering the entire front of the machine. Stiles's eyes widened as he watched Boyd grab his snack and stalk off back towards his room with a grunt.
"Okay then," Stiles said, grabbing a bag of chips before walking away.
Hope frowned, wondering why she had left her room in the first place. Why did she just randomly decide to go for a walk in the middle of the night? With a small shrug, Hope turned away from the hallway and back in the direction of her room.
"You're a disappointment to the Mikaleson name."
Startled, Hope whipped around quickly, only to see an empty hallway before her. There was nobody there, no approaching footsteps, no heavy breaths, no heartbeat. Hope continued walking, a little faster than before. She was tired, she just needed sleep.
