I silently closed the door behind me and made my way up the stairs. I was exhausted beyond relief. As I went into my room I looked in the mirror. My eyes were baggy, pale skin, the imprint of scales on my neck, the ones on my ankles, the green eyes that used to be brown, turquoise streaks to match my scales, and some faint silver streaks.
"How could anyone like a monster like me?" I mumbled to myself. To be honest, I didn't even see "Lola," all I saw was the beast within. How did my sisters look so beautiful but I looked so...just so...blah? And if being a teenager isn't enough. I took out the book. Maybe there are more letters in there. I flipped through the pages, stuff, more stuff, even more stuff. I made it to the final page. It felt thicker than the rest. I walked over to my desk and grabbed a plastic knife from my old dinner plate. I know it's gross, but I'm too lazy to go downstairs. The page was separating. It was very hard to open, considering I was using a plastic knife. Finally! It opened! I pulled the first letter out. I'm only reading one. There's 20 in here, at least. Ok, let's do this. It's gonna be lit.

Dear Jonathan,
I'm writing you this from the rocks. I've sunken 3 ships and I feel terrible. My entire appearance has changed; I doubt you'd recognize me if I returned. And I doubt you would love me still. No one can love a demon like me. If you really desperately want to see me, meet me at the beach, by the group rocks to the east. You will see a girl. If you don't, just go home. I don't want to put you in danger.
            Love,
               Karina

Maybe I'll read just one more. I mean, there's gotta be a letter from Jonathan in here. And who's Karina? There's nothing in the book on her and she seems important. I dug through the mountain of old, faded letters. Found one.

My dearest Karina,
I would love you no matter what. Just, I don't know. I mean, it can't be that bad, right? Just meet me by the rocks. I promise I'll be there.
                                       Jonathan

Well, he's pathetic at writing letters. My phone vibrated.

Come to the beach. I found something that may help you.

Preston, is it even a good time? I mean, I'm exhausted.

Then why are you reading the letters?

...are you stalking me?

I looked out the window. No one.

Your mom texted mom. She said you were still up.

But the letters?

I have to walk past your house to get to the beach. I could see your shadow...plus your window was open.

Whatever. I'll be right there.

I put my phone in my pocket and walked over to the window. It was the only way.
"Dear, God, why do I do these things." I mumbled to myself. I put one leg out the window and then the other one. I walked across the roof over to the tree. I think I can make it onto the branch.
"Here goes nothing." I lunged toward the tree....and landed on the sand. I grimaced. My ankle was badly sprained at the least.
"Yep, bad idea. Good thing it's a two story house." I said. I started to limp to the beach. Well, wherever Preston is.

Wow, I didn't ever think you'd be bold enough to jump off your roof.

How'd you see that?

Look in the water.

I looked up from my phone and there was Preston.
"How are you texting? Your submerged in water!" I asked, as I walked--or limped--to the water.
"My stuff is on the beach. I literally just got in right before you looked up."
"You are seriously an idiot. Your gonna ruin your phone."
"Well, I'm not stupid enough to jump off a roof." He replied.
"So what's so important that you made me jump out my window?" I snapped.
"I know where the Sea Witch is. You can probably negotiate." He stated.
"And where is she?"
"You know that island with the little house? Yeah, she lives right behind the island. In the water, about 100 feet down." Preston told me. I nodded.
"Got it."
I'm sorry that this chapter was short and really bad. I'm also sorry that I'm inactive a lot. I have lots of stuff going on and don't have much time to write, so please don't unfollow and stuff. Please vote and comment and thanks for reading!
