Donatello sat in one of the chairs at the breakfast bar, feet folding over the metal bar they were perched on. He held the end of a black pen in his teeth, chewing on it impatiently and staring at the pages of a book.
Michelangelo came in, carrying a box of comic books he was letting Raphael read in exchange for the older turtle's action figures. "Whatcha got there Don?"
Donnie panicked, dropping the pen to the floor and shutting the book. He turned quickly, attempting to set his elbow pad on the book cover but slipping so he fell out of the chair to the floor.
Mikey set the box down on the floor and stepped onto Donnie's back when he tried to stand up. "Isn't this the book Twilight gave you?" He inquired as he looked down at Donnie.
"Yes! Can I please have it back?" He elbowed Mikey's legs and Mikey toppled to the ground.
Mikey just laughed. "Haha! No way dude! I'm gonna read it first!"
"No Mikey!" He whined, getting to his feet. Mikey had already jumped over the pit and ran into the dojo. Donnie grabbed his bo-staff off the floor, which had fallen in the ruckus, and ran after him.
Mikey had climbed into the bonsai tree and sat cross legged, going through the pages. "'Dear Donatello,'," he read aloud in an attempt at a female voice.
Donnie ran in, jumped up and knocked the enchanted book out of Mikey's hands with the end of his staff. It let out a dull thud on the wood floor under the branch Mikey was on.
Donnie grabbed the trunk and spun around, diving for the book only to have Mikey fall on his shell. Donnie let out a cry and swung his staff around, hitting Mikey's side.
Mikey grunted and rolled off of Donnie's shell. The taller turtle picked up the book and scrambled to his feet, stepping a few feet back from the younger. Mikey rubbed his side and huffed at Donnie. "Jeez bro. I wasn't actually going to read it."
"Yes you were," Donnie growled.
Mikey chuckled in that dazed, oblivious way he does. "Yeah... I was...."
Donnie gently dusted some dirt off the cover of the shell-branded book and opened it again. He was relieved to see that Twilight had quickly written him back about his last note. He walked back into the kitchen and picked the pen up off the ground.
There was a dull crash from Donnie's lab, but he was too busy writing a response to go check. It hadn't sounded like anything too important, just a metal object falling off one of the shelves or something.
"Mikey, stop touching stuff in my lab," he called absentmindedly.
"Uh... Don?"
"What is it Mikey." He glanced at him.
"I'm right here."
Mikey was all the way across the lair, in the doorway of the dojo. None of the turtles would have been able to move that fast.
Donnie sat up abruptly and shut the book. He pulled his staff out of its sheath on his back and crept over to the door of his lab. The room had fallen silent.
He frowned a bit and looked in carefully.
A Kraang screeched and quickly leapt onto his face. Donnie let out a muffled scream, dropping his staff and tugging on its tentacle-like legs.
He fell back when something smacked the Kraang, feeling the reverb in his face.
"Ow!" He yelled past the slimy pink creature.
"Sorry Don!" Miley wrapped his three fingered hands around the Kraang and yanked it off with seemingly practiced ease.Leonardo and Raphael were on top of a building with April and Splinter, working on April's kunoichi training.
April was about to hook kick Raph's legs out from under him when she got a splitting headache. She missed, swung around in a circle and fell back, grunting as she landed on the cement.
"You totally had me there April," Ralph muttered in disappointment.
She sat up, rubbing her head. "Something is wrong..."
Leo jumped when his T-Phone went off and pulled it out of his belt. He sighed. "It's just Mikey." He was about to decline the call but April stopped him.
"No. Answer it." She had a feeling he had something to do with the off put feeling in her gut.
Leo pressed the pick up button and held it up to his ear. "Mikey, we aren't picking up-"
"Bro you gotta get back to the lab! There's Kraang everywhere!" Mikey sounded frantic on the other end of the phone. A screech was heard by everyone on the rooftop before static took over.
Splinter leapt off the edge of the rooftop. Leo and Raph followed, and April slid down the fire escape.
