Donnie grunted as he stirred and sat up, head pounding. He rubbed his temple with the heel of his palm and looked around the relatively dark room, save for the sunlight streaming in through the blinds. Two mutants lay across the room from him, and Raph beside him. Leo was in the corner, and Sunset and Twilight were beside him.
He frowned. "Leo? What's going on?"
Leo looked up and Donnie was shocked to see his face streaked with tears. Donnie looked down at himself to see if he was okay to walk before pushing himself off the makeshift cot out of desks and a sheet, walking over to his brother.
"Leo-"
"Donnie I've failed. I've failed so bad. The entire school is trapped and Fluttershy got hurt and..." Tears welled in his eyes.
Donnie quickly hugged him. "Hey. It'll be okay. We can fix this. We always do."
"B-but what if we can't? What if we fail miserable? Donnie people could *die*. A-and it's all my fault. I couldn't save them..."
Donnie looked at him worriedly. "Maybe we will. But that doesn't give us a good reason to just give up. Sure, we might fail, but we'll definitely fail if we don't even try."
He sniffed and wiped his face on his arm. "R-right..."
Donnie looked over at the mutations. Twilight was observing them, prodding them carefully with gloved hands. As he took another look around the room, he realized that- conveniently- they had been moved into a chemistry lab.
Leo stood up and stood beside him, following his gaze. "What are you thinking?" Leo looked up at his younger brother.
"I'm thinking that first, I'm going to work on a retromutagen. No matter what happens, we'll need some.""There's some mutagen you can use in the hallway. The canon blew up and left some on the walls."
Donnie nodded and went out the door. Leo let out a breath and looked at the rest of the room. Raph was still unconscious, and Sunset was holding her book.
He blinked when he saw the book. "Sunset, you can get in contact with Twilight, can't you?"
"Uh, yeah." She held up the book.
"Can you give her a rundown of what's going on? Ask her for advice? It'll be nice to have someone not panicking have an outside look on the situation."
She nodded and sat down, pulling a pen out of her pocket.
Leo looked at Twilight. "Do you have any idea where RD, AJ, Rarity or Pinkie could be?" He asked.
She looked up at him thoughtfully. "I think they're helping get students into the cafeteria."
He nodded. "You stay here and help Donnie with the retromutagen." She nodded in acknowledgement. "I'm going to go get them and see if we can come up with a plan."
He opened the door to the room carefully and looked at Donnie as he swabbed mutagen off the walls before running down the hallways. He looked around every corner for Kraang, but he had assumed correctly when he was sure they would be watching the perimeter to make sure no one escaped.
He found the cafeteria and looked in carefully. RD and AJ were walking on tables to make sure students couldn't be seen easily. Rarity and Pinkie were giving teams of students talks on how to stay calm and defend themselves if it came to it.
He shut the door. "Rainbow," he whispered and she looked over. "I need your help."
She ran over to him. "Hey Leo. What is it?"
"I'm going to need help coming up with an attack plan. Do you know anyone who can help?"
"Well I can. And I think you'll wanna get Vinyl on board as well. She's pretty good with technology. And Snowflake packs a mean punch. That's all that comes to mind..."
"Gather them up. We'll have to go to a less crowded to room to do this."
"Got it." She ran off into the cafeteria and returned with two other humans. He looked at them before nodding and leading them through the hallways to the classroom neighboring the makeshift infirmary to hatch a plan.
