After many breathing treatments, I was fine. But, even though I could live in my apartment, I had to had officers guard the area and guide me to work temporarily. Twelve days....yes...twelve days!..later, as I was treating a patient, Voight knocked on the door and called me out into the hallway. I told my patient that I'd be back. The first question that slipped out of my mouth was, "Is Tyler in prison?" Voight smiled and said,"Yes, he is in prison with heavy supervision. He and his father won't be going anywhere." I became ecstatic and hugged him. We both laughed and I said, laughing, "Sorry about jumping on you like that. I'm just so relieved!" He smiled and said he understood and told me that if anything comes up or if I just want to talk, then I'd let him know. I nodded, thanked him, and went back to work.
During my lunch break, I got a call from my dad:
C: "Hey dad!"
D: "Hey sweetheart! I have great news! Come outside."
C: "Sure thing. Where are you?"
D: "At the front entrance of the hospital."
C: "On my way! See you!"
D: "Alright, baby!"
*hangs up*
I walked out of the hospital and saw the most amazing sight in my life.....a light blue Volkswagen bug....with a dachshund sticker on the bumper! I looked at my dad and ran to him, embracing and thanking him. As I wiped happy tears from my eyes, I said, "This really is the best present I have ever received....besides being alive." We both laughed and he said, "You're welcome, sweetheart. Here are the keys." I thanked him again and put the keys in my pocket. "Listen, I have to get back to work, but thank you so much! I love you!" I said. He kissed my forehead and replied, "I love you too, sweetheart." "And dad? Please be safe out there. I don't want Voight coming and telling me that you or K got hurt or worse." I said, holding back tears. He hugged me and said, "I will, baby." Then we said our goodbyes and each got back to work.
