Two weeks later, I was able to get out of the hospital to testify against Tyler. I wasn't in a wheelchair, thank God!, but I had to be accompanied by Dr. Latham and Dr. Reese. The beginning half of the trial was long, but the other half after a recess...a break.. it was time for me to testify.
Dr. Reese and an officer helped me to the podium. I cleared my throat and answered the questions. Three hours later, the verdict was in...Tyler was found guilty! He would spend life in prison without the possibility of parole. Dr. Latham and Dr. Reese then took me back to the hospital and I slept the best sleep of my life. I woke up to find Dr. Reese sitting next to my bed. "Hey. What's up, sista?" I greeted her, both of us laughing. "I came in to check on you and to ask you to help me, Dr. Latham, and Dr. Halstead with a case." Then she explained what it was. It was a teenage girl who fell and injured her head, leg, and arm while cheerleading. The girl also had Asperger's syndrome. So, we talked to the girl and encouraged her.
