COFFEE SHOP
Manik and Nandini order the coffee. The waiter brings their coffees to the table and places two fortune cookies next to them. Nandini gets excited.
Nandini: Wow, a fortune cookie!
She immediately grabs one and breaks it open to get the message, while Manik sips his coffee.
Manik: Don't tell me you believe in those fortune cookies.
Nandini: Yes, I do... not literally, but it's fun to read the message.
Nandini pulls out the paper and reads, "We don't meet people by accident. They are meant to cross our path for a reason, and that's called DESTINY."
She smiles at the message. "Wow, such a true and meaningful quote, right?"
Manik scoffs. "You call that meaningful?"
Nandini: Yeah... in fact, we both met because destiny wanted us to meet.
Manik: Seriously? We met because you decided to help me that day. It was your decision, not Mr. Destiny's.
Nandini: I'm sure you don't believe in destiny, otherwise you wouldn't be saying this.
Manik: You're right, I don't believe in it.
Nandini: Okay, then at least open your fortune cookie and tell me what your message says.
Manik: Nandini, I don't believe in all this stuff.
Nandini: Please, for me...
Nandini makes a cute face that Manik can't resist.
Manik: Okay, for you.
He breaks his cookie and pulls out the message. He reads it aloud, "Destiny is for losers. It's just a stupid excuse to wait for things to happen instead of making them happen." He laughs.
Nandini: Show me.
Nandini grabs the paper, thinking he made it up.
Manik: Wow, now I like this fortune cookie a lot. Should we get more?
Nandini: Thanks, but no thanks, Manik.
Manik: But the message is right. If you want something in life, you should work hard to get it rather than wait for it to happen.
Nandini: Yeah, that's true too.
Manik: So Mr. Destiny won't help us to know each other. We have to do something ourselves.
Nandini: Do what?
Manik: I'll say a letter, and you have to say something about yourself that starts with that letter.
Nandini: Cool. You go first.
Manik: G.
Nandini: GOD.
Manik: God?
Nandini: I believe in God a lot and I usually go to the Ganesha Temple in Paris.
Manik: Wow, Nandini, you seem to believe in so many things.
Nandini: And you seem to believe in nothing.
Manik: Hey, I do believe in certain things, okay.
Nandini: Like what?
Manik: I believe in friendship and I believe that hard work can make anything possible. Most importantly, I believe in enjoying life a lot, and the list goes on. Okay, now your turn. Give me a letter.
