I'm back in the Philippines.
Andito ako ngayon sa bago kong eskwelahan. I'm from a school for elites in the states. But I just have to go back here in the Philippines.
Including Gun Shooting.
"Welcome home Aaliyah" Tito Jeremy smiled at me tapos niyakap ako.
"Thank you Tito." Then I hugged him, "Where is Daddy po?" Tanong ko
"You know your Dad. He's always busy." Ngiti niya
"What do you expect" I smiled
Ganyan si Daddy kahit nung bata palang ako. Nung bata ako, I found a gun under my daddy's bed. I thought dad was serving the Philippines, I even told my friends how proud I am: my dad, the brave soldier. I keep bragging about my Dad to my friends.
The teacher heard me talking about the gun, at sinabi niya yun sa mga magulang ko.
When I got home my dad talked to me, sabi niya "What ever goes on to our family stays here, we do not talk about it to anyone." Pinapakinggan ko lang siya.
I was wondering why we are keeping it a secret, but it never felt strange. It's just the way we did things.
My father is a business tycoon, my mother is a housewife. Everyone new my dad, and even as a young child I can sense that he was an important person.
There was once when we attended a party, everyone rushes to shake his hand, he gave time to them all, chatting about business and etc.
One day, when I was about 10, my dad sat me down in the kitchen counter, he said that I am going with my mom in the province.
"We're having trouble. Me and your Dad, we're going on a divorce."
I was shocked. Simula non I stayed with Mommy sa probinsya nila. Doon namuhay kami na sapat lang. Wala kaming balita kay Daddy non. Hanggang mamatay si Mommy. 14yrs. old lang ako non.
Wala na rin kasi yung parents ni Mommy, and Dad sent me to the states, he said it's for my safety.
He said do not be friend anyone. He keep on telling me to don't trust anyone. By then I start to not trust anyone.
So when I stayed there I had friends. But I did not invite or even trust them with my secrets.
Until, I had to go back here in the Philippines.
At ngayon. My life begins.
