back then, the both knew that jiho had some feelings for one another but she didn't think of it as anything more than a little crush. it took her two years after that to finally come to terms that they loved each other.

taehyung squeezed her hand to get her attention.

"do you want to go inside?" he asked. she nodded and stuck close to him as the two of them walked to the bakery, completely forgetting about the doctor.

unlike their usual experience with the bakery, they were playing regular pop music as opposed to the cheerful holiday songs. granted, by tradition, the two of them only came here during christmas to celebrate their anniversary of meeting each other 4 years ago.

taehyung started to take her to their normal table but she stopped him.

"what's wrong?" he asked, turning around.

"we can't sit there. that table is reserved for our anniversary." jiho explained. taehyung smiled and nodded before taking her to one table over. he helped jiho into the high stool before walking to his own chair.

after a few minutes of ordering and waiting for food and drinks,
taehyung asked the question that had been burning his thoughts.

"jiho." he started. she looked up expectantly.

"who is mark?" he asked. she swallowed before blowing some of the steam from her tea.

"i dated mark a few years ago." she responded.

"a few years ago?"

"yeah, i met you a few months after i got away from him. that day in the hospital, i don't know why but the timeline in my head is all screwed up. i thought that i was still with him." jiho responded. she didn't want to talk about this but she felt that she owed him an explanation for spazzing on him last week.

"did he hit you?" taehyung asked, his eyes hard. jiho didn't say anything, just nodding as she looked away from him. she felt ashamed as if were somehow her fault that he was abusive.

taehyung could feel his blood boiling but he choked it down. after all, he'd known her for years and he shouldn't get too upset over something that happened 4 years ago. there was nothing that he could do about it now.

"why didn't you tell me?"

"i was trying so hard to forget. that isn't exactly a memory that i wanted to keep. then, when i met you, everything was perfect. you were so happy and then i met your members and they were happy too. i wanted to be a part of that and i wanted to forget everything else." she said. taehyung grabbed her hand in his and sighed. her life was so ironic. she wanted to remember your time with taehyung and forget everything else, instead she remembered everything else and forgot taehyung.

another few minutes went by and he was silent. jiho decided to change the subject to pull him out of whatever dark thoughts he was having. she knew him better than she knew the back of her hand and he was probably trying to envision her in an abusive relationship.

"tae, please don't make me go back there. i hate being in that hospital. it feels like my parents dumped me off at daycare and never came back." she said pouting. taehyung snapped his head up and smiled at her analogy before nodding.

"we can take you out of there." he agreed. the doctor frowned and, finally, after about an hour, interrupted the two of them.

"i don't know if that is a good idea." he cut in, making them frown.

"so, i can't go home? i really want to sleep in a real bed." jiho complained. taehyung looked at her deep-set frown and scratched his head.

"why can't she leave?" he asked.

"well, she's still under treatment. she's actually under 24-hour watch. we don't know what other things that she has forgotten and she could have another panic attack like she did in the hospital." he continued.

it was taehyung who frowned now.

"she remembers the stuff before that guy. we met 4 years ago—" he said, working through the problem.

"—he was with that man just before she met me so i should know everything else that has happened in that time, right?" he asked. the doctor flipped through his notes, trying to find out what she'd said earlier and stumbled to respond.

"plus, you said that we could help her remember things faster if we went to places with significant meaning. we rarely ever visited the hospital so there is nothing else for her to remember there, right?" taehyung asked. the doctor was at a loss, not knowing how to respond. logically, what taehyung was saying made sense but it seemed strange to just let jiho leave.

"you're right but i wouldn't suggest that she be alone right now." the doctor stated.

"she won't be." he responded. she smiled at him and looked down into her cup of tea. he was always good with convincing people. well, as long as he wasn't trying to convince his members or jiho to do something stupid.
