Sammy's POV

When I woke for the second time, Fletcher wasn't next to me. I figured he was in the main room, but when I walked out while buttoning up my jeans, I didn't see him. I grabbed my shoes and laced them up, and decided to sit and wait. He must've gone somewhere quickly.
After sitting on the couch for ten minutes, I went to the bar to get my phone, and saw a note addressed to me, written in Fletcher's boy-like handwriting.
'Sammy--
I'm sorry I left again. I keep leaving you at times like this. I wish I could stay. I really do. But I need to get back to California, back to my job.
I realised something while we were together last night, even though we didn't say much. I can't tell you what the thing was that I realised, but it's one of the things I need to go back to Cali to do. Maybe fate will bring us together once more... Third time's got to be a charm, right?
I really am sorry Samantha...

--Fletcher'
I couldn't believe this. He left. AGAIN. Without saying goodbye. AGAIN. The worst thing is though, I was in the next room while he wrote this damned letter! I slammed it down on the bar bench and fumed. As I read the letter again, I noticed something faded in the gap before his name. It was rubbed out, but as I looked closer, I could make out what it had said.
'I love you.'
I gasped. No. He didn't love me. I mean, if he did, he wouldn't of rubbed it out. Shaking my head, I took the paper and my phone and left. I threw it into the trash bin on the street and began walking home. The morning joggers were out and about, probably heading home since it was nearing 10 o'clock.
When I got home, everyone was still asleep, thankfully. I showered and changed into fresh clothes before making everyone breakfast.

"So... how was Fletcher last night?" Gracie asked as we all sat around the loft together.
"What do you mean?! How did you know?" I asked, frowning. They all frowned in confusion at me.
"You were at dinner with us... I meant, was he acting weird at all toward you... Why, what did you think I meant?" she asked. I blushed.
"Right. Uh, no, he was fine..." I say, but she didn't drop it.
"Sammy, what aren't you telling us?" she pressed. I sighed and spilled last night's details to them. And the letter.
"Well... he does have work back in Cali. Personal Trainer, remember?" Dylan says.
"Yeah, but Dyl, if he's got two tattoos in reference to Sammy, there's got to be some other deeper meaning as to why he left" Gracie reasoned with him.
"True..." he muttered, thinking. "Oh. I know what" he said, all colour draining from his face.
"What? What do you know?" Gracie asked. He looked at the others who looked confused, then caught on.
"Sammy, do you still have feelings for Fletcher?" Jay asked slowly. I thought about it. I don't think so.
"I'm pretty sure I don't. I mean, how can I? He ditched me and I haven't spoken to him in seven years, until yesterday" I say. "So, no, I don't" I confirmed.
"Good" Tom started. "He's engaged" my heart stopped.
