"Sammy" he sighed and stood there, hands in his pockets. His tie hung loosely around his neck, top button undone. I looked back out to the water, a few ducks swimming by. It was dark already, the time only being 7pm. My gaze shifted to my hands in my lap, and he sat next to me. "What's wrong? Why don't you want to be around me?" he asked, frowning at the ground, as if he were annoyed at himself.
"I- it's nothing" I say, chuckling. He looked at me, as if to say 'yeah right, now spill'. Sighing, I ran a hand through my now long black hair. "How's your fiancé?" I ask casually, and he stiffened next to me.
"Uh, I um, don't have one" he forced out. I frowned.
"But, the guys said-"
"I did have one, but we uh, ended it a while ago" he says. "Two months, just about" he added. I nodded, not looking at him. We sat in silence for five minutes before he spoke again. "She was pregnant" my eyes widened and I filled with hurt and sadness, more tears clouding my vision. "With her best friend's child" he added, laughing dryly and sitting back. I gasped. "It's okay, though. I was going to end it before she told me" he shrugged.
"Why? Why were you going to end it?" I asked him. He looked over to me, eyes soft, with the same look in them.
"I wasn't in love with her" he said and his hand reached out and cupped my cheek. "I'm in love with someone else" he added and sat up, close to me.
"Oh? W-Who?" I stuttered, beginning to get the hurt and jealous feeling back in my heart.
"The most amazing girl ever, Sammy" he said, his hand dropping and he leant his elbows on his knees, leaning forward a little and looking out to the pond and people walking past, hand in hand. "You'd love her, really" he adds.
"I'd love to meet her" I force out, forcing a smile when he looked at me.
"Really? Come on then, I'll introduce you" he says and stands up, grinning.
"She's here?" he nodded, his smile growing. I force one of my own and we walk back to the hotel. Instead of going back to the reception, he lead me down a hallway and stopped at the corner before looking around it, and his eyes lit up.
"Okay, I don't want you to freak out, okay?" he says warning.
"Is she famous?" I ask. He shook his head. "Really important?" I asked. His eyes softened and he nodded, almost in a daze. "Okay. I won't freak out" I force out. He grinned and lead me around the corner, but I didn't see anyone but us two in the room. "Where is she?" I asked, frowning and walking further into the room, turning to face him.
"She's behind you" he breathed out, smiling lovingly. Confused, I turned around only to see my reflection in a large mirror.
"Fletcher, there's only a mirror here" I tell him. He chuckled, stepping forward to me and taking my hand, looking at me through the mirror.
"That's the point. You're looking at the girl I'm in love with" he whispers. I gasp, staring at us in the mirror. "You're looking at the girl I've always been in love with" he added, looking down at me, not through the mirror. I turned and faced him.
"Fletcher..." I breathed out, noticing our closeness. "I-"
I was cut off by the one thing I wanted, and needed most. His lips on mine. Finally.
