Fletcher's POV

Since Sammy went to work, I did too. I only had three sessions today, so I was home by 1:25. As soon as I put my keys down though, the phone rang. I ran to it and picked it up, seeing it was my mom.
"Mom? Hi" I say, frowning. She never calls this number. Very rarely. Only if she's trying to get a hold of Sammy.
"Fletcher dear, oh thank God! Where's Samantha?" she asked frantically. I could hear the sadness and urgency in her voice.
"At work... why, what's wrong, mom?" I asked.
"You need to go get her and come home. I've been trying to reach her for half an hour already. Her father... he was in an accident..." she tells me. My stomach dropped.
"What kind of accident, mom?" I almost whispered.
"I'll explain when you two get here. Pack a bag and get here. NOW" she exclaimed.
"I'll see you soon. Just ask for him at the hospital?" I ask, already in my room, throwing things into my duffle.
"Yes. The reception should send you to the right place. I'll be here all afternoon. Hurry, Fletcher. And honey?"
"Mm?"
"Look after her" she said. I promised I would and hung up, dropping the phone onto my bed and zipping up the bag. I left it in the hallway and packed one for Sammy. Just with some decent clothes, her toiletries, and basic makeup. I grabbed both bags, my phone and charger, and left, not bothering to wait for the elevator, I ran down the stairs, skipping a lot of them to be quicker. I raced out to my car in the car park and threw the duffels into the backseat before speeding off to Sammy's work.

As I was in the lift, I texted Gracie to tell the others about her dad, and that I didn't know when we'd be back. She said they were praying for him and to call when I could. I stepped out onto the right floor and rushed to the reception desk.
"Can I help you?" she asked, looking at me in disgust. I was still in my gym gear, and my face all red from rushing.
"Yes, I need to see Sammy Dylan. Now" I say. She sighed and looked at her computer.
"If you go down that hall and come out at the end, her desk is at the back near the main office" she says in a bored tone. I thank her and run down the polished hallway, passing some doors before coming out to a massive room, full of desk cubicles. I couldn't see her, so I asked someone walking past.
"Hey, can you tell me where Sammy's desk is?" I ask.
"Over there. Jedd's is opposite her's" she said and I rushed off after thanking her. She wasn't at her desk, but Jedd was at his.
"Hey, Fletcher! What's up man?" he asked, leaving his computer and looking at me.
"Sammy's dad... accident... need to take her home now" I say, out of breath. His eyes widened.
"She's in there with Georgia" he says and pushes away from his desk. He walked around me and pushed the doors open and we walked right in, capturing the attention of the two women in the room.
"Can I help you sir?" the woman behind the desk, Georgia, asks.
"Fletcher, what's wrong?" Sammy asked, frowning.
"Sammy, we need to go right now" I say pleadingly.
"Why? I'm kind of busy" she says, referring to her boss.
"Your dad's been in an accident. We need to go home to the hospital" I say. Her eyes widened and she didn't do anything.
"I'll pack up her things" Jedd said and went back to her desk, while Georgia came around to face Sammy.
"Sammy dear, you need to leave. Okay? Come on honey. Fletcher's going to take you to your dad" she says kindly. Sammy sort of nodded, and Georgia helped her stand up, as she was shaking. They went to Sammy's desk and I stood close by, everyone in the office watching us, until Georgia yelled. "Get back to work, all of you! Nothing to see here!" and they all turned away.
"Sammy, snap out of this! Get it together for Christs sake!" Jedd said to her. I thought it was rude, but it got her to be aware of the situation.
"Come on Fletcher" she said and grabbed her bag and phone. She said goodbye to Jedd and Georgia and grabbed my hand, entwining our fingers and lead me back down the hall and we ran down the stairs to the lobby, then out to my car, all in silence.
