Vacations.

He'd never understood the significance of vacations, that was until he'd given into his mother's demands and traveled to Barbados.

Lance had instantly fell in love with the small island and although he hadn't made any friends or acquaintances, he appreciated his surroundings more than anything else. The giggles of the small children, the uniting families that huddled around the streets together made him feel welcome. He didn't have to know them but they all smiled and greeted him like they'd known him.

Having spent a week one in the beautiful island that is Barbados, his favorite location was the beach he'd now grown familiar with. Every afternoon at around five o'clock he'd head down from his small hotel and over to the nearby beach; it never failed. Each time he went, there she was.

Now Lance was never the kind of guy to go down to the waters just in hopes to check out half naked women; his mother had taught him better than that. But there was one specific woman who never went unnoticed to him when she was there.

Her caramel skin shone and glistened under the sun, her laughter was like a symphony of harmonies that played all along the beach. Lance had observed her enough to know that one particular darkskin female she was always with; was the cause of most of her laughter. He figured they were best friends.

But he couldn't help but lead his mind to wonder if one day, he could make her laugh like that and witness her happiness whilst gladly taking pride in being the cause of it.

Her hair was a golden brown and red, almost ginger. It was unique and he appreciated the color for it complemented her skin tone.

They'd shared eye contact, but Lance would dismiss it instantly and look elsewhere. This had only been on a few occasions when the girl had felt his intense stare on her.

She would simply squint her eyes at him, whisper unknown words to her best friend in her thick Caribbean accent and they'd skip along the beach, laughing together.

He wanted to initiate conversation, but the young woman always had company from left to right. It was no doubt she was very well known and loved by everyone she encountered on the island, and he could see why.

But as he now comfortably shifted in his bed, his eyes closed but his mind was still wide awake and deep in thought. He made a mental note and even spoke it out loud to assure himself that he would do it.
