A Teddy Bear Ending

She ran and crashed into the teddy. Hugging it with all her might. Eric sighed in relieve.

"You have no idea how much I wanted a teddy," she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion.

Was she...crying?!

"Thank you," she sniffed.

"Are you crying?" he swallowed.

It wasn't really a very nice situation to be in and he had no idea what to do.  What made it even worse? Nicholas Sparks hadn't told him what to do when a girl cries! So much for a "how to treat a lady manual".

"No! It's just my eyes are sweating!" She chuckled, wiping her eyes.

"Thank you, really. It means a lot to me. Plus, I'm quite sure you're practically feeling publicly humiliated," She smiled. Eying him with a look Eric couldn't comprehend.

Yes! He was feeling so freaking embarrassed. But with that smile on her face..he knew it was worth it. God, he even felt happy just by looking at her embarrassing that teddy. It's head under her chin and her hair draping nonchalantly on it. Her eyes glistened with warmth Eric has never seen before, not in her eyes and not anywhere else, so he did the only thing he could; He drowned in them.

"You're angry," She broke the spell.

"I wanted to tell you that you're not angry, but I'd be lying. You are angry...it's just..You’re not just angry. I don't know you enough, but a guy who bothers to buy a daisy just to apologize..and a very rare species who'd actually buy a teddy...a very beautiful teddy..I think would be good at more than just being angry."

Eric felt himself smile, feeling happier than he's ever been in months. Was she praising him? 'Cause the only woman who ever praised him before was his mother..and Ellen. He gulped, his smile dropping as he remembered her.

Viv tried to control her tears. That was like..the cutest thing a guy has ever done to her! It was the cutest thing ever and Eric was the one to do it!

All the anger and hatred she had felt towards him has vanished and instead she felt warm. He, he acted cold. But she knew. She knew that he was just protecting the little warmth inside of him from this pathetic world. And she understood that. His heart has been hard for so long..a stone. But even stone cracks and the most vivid of planets can sprout from these cracks.

"You want to go somewhere?" He asked, without even giving it much thought. She had been staring at him for so long and it was starting to get uncomfortable.

"Where?" She gulped. Sure, the guy was nice and everything but maybe he was just putting up an act so he can pull her leg.

"Don't worry," he chuckled. "I don't have an axe in the car!" He looked at her expectantly.

"Fine," She said and took his offered hand.

"What's this?" Viv asked.

The car drive was pretty quite. A relaxing type of silence not the awkward one. Eric had an impressive black car; If she actually cared about cars she was sure she'd know it's name. She found herself wondering what's his job. She , as silly as this seems now, had thought he didn't work, since he was ALWAYS at Frost. But judging by that car, he was either a hard worker or inherited a good sum of money; Not that she cared, really!

They had stopped in front of an old building and her old fears of an axe in the car found it's way back to her head. The building had one of these ancient staircases that leads to an old, wooden door.
