"I'll think about it, mum,"

"Viv, I don't see what is there for you to think about. Keith is an amazing young man! His parent's are dear friends of mine..and your Dad's" Her mum spat the last word.

Viv could almost imagine her mum rolling her eyes at the mention of her father.

Sitting up straight, Viv held the phone more firmly to her ears and said "Nothing to think about? Mum, I don't even know him! How do you expect me to marry him?!"

She held back the tears that were about to make their way to her creamy cheeks.

"Vienny V, Don't cry." Her mum smoothed out. "I'm not forcing you into anything. Just remember almost five years from you'd be too old to be married and that's the only reason why I want you to marry him."

"Well, I told you I don't mind not getting married at all if it means not marring Keith! Mum! He talked about nothing but politics..THE WHOLE DATE!"

"Well, If I were Keith I wouldn't propose to a woman who made me wear a "hamburger suit" and then ditched me!" Her mum stated.

"Hey! I did not tell him to wear a hamburger suit! I simply told him we're going to a costume party! He chose the costume mum." Despite herself, Viv smiled.

She still remembered that day. She was supposed to set a date with Keith so they'd "get to know each other more". She had told Keith she's going to her friend's costume party and that she was going to dress as the queen of spades. How the hell was she supposed to know he was going to dress as "Burger King"?! And no, she didn't ditch him because of that. He was telling her about the "12 children" they would have and Viv just couldn't stand imagining her life with him..so she ran away!

Sighing, her mum said "Just promise me you'll apologize. Please?"

"Fine, mum."

For a second, Viv considered telling her mum about Eric. But then again, what will she tell her? "Hey mum, I met this guy who is so annoying I had to throw my drink at him?". On second thoughts she better just keep it to herself.

"How is work going?" Her mum asked.

"The center is pretty empty these days mum, as usual. Can't we just sell out?" Viv asked, truthfully concerned.

"No one wants to buy a falling business, Viv." Her mum said mildly. "I'll call you later, the chicken's burning!"

Her mother hung up.

Sighing, Viv threw herself on the bed and felt it ripple for a while. She wasn't going to marry Keith. Period!

BUT, she still had to apologize. She promised her mum she would. Holding the phone in front of her she decided to send him a text; Better than having to hear his voice.

Sorry about last time, Viv." Good enough. She clicked send.

Almost immediately he replied. "No problem, sugar. You wanna go out tonight, honey?

"ENOUGH WITH THE ENDEARMENT WORDS!" Her head screamed. Seriously "sugar" and "honey"? What's next? Butter? Milk? Eggs? mix them and shake well before adding flour!?

Throwing her phone on the bed, Viv stared at the ceiling. So white and empty..just like her life.

But her life wasn't "empty"..not anymore. She had Eric to annoy! She liked him! Hell, she did!

Ever since the accident at the bar, they'd been texting and meeting up ALOT!

Eric looked funny with that bruise on him and Viv liked reminding him.
