Hello?
So the school called again, apparently they were unaware I was working and that I was still trying to raise the funds for tuition.
What does that mean?
It means they rescinded my acceptance letter.
Oh my, did you want me to pull strings? Because I can.
No, thanks for the offer.
Do they have any scholarships that you might apply for.
I checked, the only ones are for next year. I mean I can wait, it just sucks.
That it does.
How's your life?
Oh, um, well, my mother, she showed up at my school yesterday.
Weird?
She was drunk, well, tipsy.
Oh my...
She didn't cause a huge scene, just had to be escorted to the office, where they asked me to drive her home.
Why did she show up so randomly at your school?
Apparently I forgot my homework and she was determined to bring it to me.
That is so odd.
She tends to be sober at night and drunk during the day. Backwards if you ask me.
A bit. So both our lives are strange then.
Incredibly so.
Vicky, can I ask you a favour?
Of course.
Would you use your influence to get my stalker to back off? Unofficially?
What prompted that? You never ask for that sort of help.
I just can't take it anymore. He walked me to work yesterday, which is kind but because of the call from the school I wasn't very talkative and I swear he just about grabbed my arm and demanded I tell him why.
Perhaps that restraining order might help?
I just... I'm tired, you know? Balancing work, trying to get into the school I want, and I don't have time for him.
Can I ask what he's like?
He's nice enough, but I just don't like him. He's pushy when I say no, backs down only when I start yelling. Calls me names when he's riled. He's never hurt me but his presence is stressful.
Do you want me to bribe him? Threaten him? Use leverage against him? Or get you the restraining order? I suppose I could hire someone to beat him up, that's not really my thing though.
Restraining order will do, thanks.
You don't have to sound so shocked, I was just laying out all the options. I knew you would choose that one.
Then why offer the others?
Choices?
Right...
At least I managed to cheer you up.
That you did. I'll call you tomorrow, I need to head to bed.
Goodnight Klair.
Night Vicky.
