I thought about the tree bride that ended not even half way through the lake with Kanuta a lot. What was the point? He had given his den to a small group of supporters and he slept with me now. We were so close, like brother and sister. Except the part where they want to murder each other. We go and hunt close to the 49th pack area. Few prey lingered with small fires still hidden from the snow that began to fall. I walked into the once nice territory, some trees had blackened and fell. Dens fallen in, bones of my long-ago-pack members crunched beneath my paws. It had been Several full moons ago since this happened. I walked over to the rose bush where me and Nishuta had ended our fight. Kanuta was sniffing at bones and bodies, I followed blood smudges. I followed the fading scent and red clinging to the trees and grass. The sun begins to stain the sky red, and after a few moments, its a darkening blue. I follow her trails and I hear some packs' midnight howling go on later. Has it been so long? I continue though, the scent gets fresher but the blood is fading. It must be scabbing up now. I start to prance then quicken and quicken till I'm zooming, I burst into a clearing and I find her, she's near the edge and fast asleep. I approach her carefully. She looks so innocent when she's asleep. So much like Kanuta. I sigh and plop on my haunches. I could end her now. Or not.
I had decided not and I returned to Red Oak before the sun rose. I go to Hopsfly. "When will we attack next, and who?" I ask. He was in a dark brown wolf form, fairly larger than me. "Well. The 50th pack is neutral, but pack 52 isn't. We attack at dawn. Summon them to the outside Anita. Try to keep them quiet, and did you hear anything on your expedition?" he knew cause I had told him. "Yes, I think it was 52s' . They attack 51 and 50 tomorrow." He gets up and rushes outside, reminding me to gather everyone. Knowing how this place echo's I let out a long howl. Everyone runs outside in a single file. Had Hopsfly been doing drills?
The attack on 52 was in full motion. We traveled as small flies, the non-shifters lingered in the shadows moving swiftly and silently. I land on Nitus' back. Flying tires you out quickly. "Hey, you guys wait till we shift,, then spring. Pass it on" I whisper and do it to a few more and fly a bit quicker to catch up through the shadowy woods. I see some old prey and began to circle and land on it. Some of us are going on the eyes or the gash in its' side like normal flies would. This is on the edge of the clearing to the camp. We finish 52 with a simple sleeping slaughter. It felt horrible. Some families were spared though, those who awoke were silenced immediately. I was sick the next day..
