Phichit was squealing like a mouse. That was ironic considering his previous spell. It was meant to make mice appear out of nowhere. Horses didn't like mice, I guessed centaurs didn't, either. Poor Phichit was being shaken like no tomorrow. The centaur was screaming at him. I never saw a centaur being mad and nobody wants that.
With his other hand, the centaur took Phichit's wand. He gripped it so tightly that it broke. Phichit began to sob, as if something inside of him broke along with his wand. The centaur shook Phichit in the air like a rag doll. He let him fall in the vault with a thud. Phichit stopped moving. Since Otabek was the closest one to him, he tended to his wounds. Viktor inclined his head.
"We did the right thing. Even if it doesn't seem like it now, when we'll get rescued, we'll think otherwise," he explained.
"Do you think we'll get rescued soon ?" I asked him. It's been hours since we were sprawled in the dirt. It was nightfall already. I began to sweat in fear.
"I hope we will," he mumbled. I agreed with a nod. When Viktor noticed my expression, he took my hand and looked at me in the eyes.
"We can get through this," he told me. I closed my eyes and felt the warmth of his hand agains mine. I let my mind drifting into sleep.
When I woke up, it the sun was up, too. My head was on top of Viktor's, whose was on my shoulder. Our fingers were still intertwined. I stayed still for a few minutes. During that time, I was calm. I didn't feel any worry. I looked at the others. Yurio was sleeping on Otabek's lap and Phichit was alone, weeping in his sleep. I tried to drag myself out of Viktor's arms. When I succeeded, I woke up Yurio. The angry Russian punk stared at me weirdly. He was still half-asleep. When he realized I caught him literally sleeping on Otabek, he rolled off him.
"Why are you waking me up ?" he yawned. He looked startled.
"I have an idea. While everyone is still asleep, I'd like you to help me," I proposed.
"For what ?" he whispered.
"I want to take our wands back," I explained him.
"Are you serious ! There is a whole bunch of angry centaurs out there," he exclamed.
"I'm sure Otabek will be VERY grateful if you did this for him," I added. Yurio had a divided expression on his face. He wasn't sure of what to do. My arguments seemed to have caught him off balance.
"I think we can do it. Just don't slow me down, piglet," he warned. Yurio was serious. He wouldn't hesitate to sacrifice me to accomplish his purpose.
"Alright. First, we need to get out of here," I precised.
Yurio grabbed my arm out of nowhere and casted a spell without talking. It was pretty impressive. We flew away with the strenght of the wind. We landed in a tree.
"I wonder why you didn't do this sooner," I said.
"Ask the centaurs that were surrounding us and their magic rope," Yurio snorted.
"You're right, we would have been caught for sure. Sorry to say that," I sighed. I was an idiot for taking all my stress on him.
We could see the whole camp of the centaurs from up here. I noticed there were two sentries posted in front of tent. It was bigger and brighter than the others.
"This purple tent here, they must keep our weapons there," I deduced.
"Yeah, you're right. I think one of us should create a diversion while the other takes the wands back," Yurio said. I took a deep breath.
