Chapter 1: The news⚡

1 day before summer!

"OMG! I can't believe tomorrow is summer!!!"
My best friend Emmy cheers as we walk down the sidewalk to our houses'

"I know right! This is going to be the best Summer EVER!"
I squeak with excitement'

"Exactly​! I really can't wait to go fishing and--

"Swimming!"
I add'

"And going to the Nantucket festival and--"

"Spending the night at each other's houses!"
I add once more'

"AND prank calling boys we hate at your school!!"
We both say and giggle at the same time'

As me and Emmy continue to walk down the sidewalk and talk about what are plans are for the summer, we finally stumble upon both of our 2 story houses.

"I'll text you later, ok?"
I say as I hug her goodbye'

"Ok! Bye"
She smiles'

We say our last goodbyes and finally go in our houses.

-In my house-

"Mom! Dad! I'm home!!"
I shout as I enter the House'

"We're all in the kitchen honey!"
My mom shouts'

When I walk to the kitchen I notice my whole family is standing there with a huge smile on their faces.

"Uhh why are all smiling so much?"
I frown with confusion'

Ryan and Justin
(my two brothers) begin to snicker and chuckle to each other.

"What's going on?"
I ask still with no idea'

"Honey, do you remember when me and you're father were looking at that brochure about Cancun?"
My mother says'

"Yeah? You both said it would be nice to go one day"

"Exactly! So me and you're father have decided that we all should go for the summer!"
My mother cheers'

Both of my brothers begin to jump around with excitement.
But for me... I wasn't to happy about it.

"What's wrong honey? You don't seem so happy?"
My father asks'

"That's because I'm not..."

"How come?"
My mother says shocked'

"Because my summer is suppose to be here, in Nantucket with Emmy. Not in freaking​ Mexico!"

"It's actually Cancun Meg"
My brother Ryan adds'

"Same damn thing Ryan!"
I say getting annoyed'

"Hey! Watch your mouth"
My mother scolds me'

"Ugh... Sorry"
I say as I pout up the stairs to my bedroom'

When I make it up to my bedroom I throw my stuff on the floor, not even caring where it lands.

I can't believe my family would do this to me!

This summer was suppose to be awesome!

She's going to be so disappointed with me when I tell her this horrible news.

Suddenly I hear a knock at my bedroom door.
I look up and see it my beautiful mother standing there in silence staring at me.

"Why this summer mom?
Just why?"
I say sadly'

"Oh honey... We're not doing this to ruin your summer, we're doing this to make it better and more fun."

"Only here in Nantucket is fun.
What am I suppose to do in Cancun mom?"

"Go surfing? You can probably learn. Oh! And maybe make new friends."

"No mom! I rather stay here with Emmy. Please can I stay?"
I plead'

"No Meghan, you're coming with us. So you might as well start packing now. Our flight is in a couple of hours."
She says as she leaves my room'

"A couple of hours?! That's not even enough time for me to pack one suit case."

Ughhh.... Why me?
