Chapter 27:

I dragged my bare feet through the forest as the dark swallowed everything up; even with my wolf eyes I could hardly see, I didn't need to. I was being guided by primal instinct, but it was a different kind of instinct. Maternal instinct wrapped itself around my limbs and wove through my senses showing me the way. I had no idea what was waiting for me, but I knew that it was significant to everything in my life and those around me. There was a reason for everything, even if it was a tragedy. It must have happened for a reason.

Soon I reached a familiar scene only now the dark and evil tree that once stood was replaced with a stump. I saw a guy in a hoodie and he was looking down at a butcher knife and in the blink of an eye it was dripping in blood and the pain forced me to my knees. With a shaky hand I gently touched my swollen belly only to find it was wet, sticky and crimson. A lump rose in my throat as I tried scream for my mate, for my pack, and I soon realized for my sons.

As the man slowly turned his head towards me I was blinded by desperate tears fighting to save them my sons. Take me instead, I pleaded. Take me!! Even through the watery shields I could tell exactly who was wielding the weapon and I could also tell that he was having a conflicting moment, with himself. Then came a fire along with the little mouse and wolf. The wolf wore a proud toothy grin and the mouse stood waving her tiny little arms with a little bead of determination on her brow.

He fled and my sons were left unscathed on the sacrificial stump. My heart slowly relaxed and the wolf and the mouse smiled at me then the tiny mouse extinguished the fire and the charred trees breathed a sigh of relief from the scorching blaze. Before I could grab my sons I collapsed and began shaking with Derek's amazing voice echoing in my mind.

        "Wake up!! Connor!! Wake up!"

My eyes darted open and trailed over my fiancé's features desperately trying to bring me comfort.

"Shhh, it was just a dream." Derek murmured into my hair. I hadn't realized I was crying until Derek turned the lamp on and I saw tear marks on his sculpted chest. "What was it about?" he sighed and I felt a sliver of anger sprout in me.

"Nothing," I snapped then my phone began to ring.

I hastily reached over Derek and grabbed my phone of the night stand and saw that it was Demi calling and my stomach dropped. I answered her call and she immediately began to scream. "Demi, I need you to calm down okay?" I said with a shaky voice.

"My house it just burst in flames! Oh my God! What the hell did I do?" She sobbed and I heard fire trucks in the background.

"I'll be there as fast as I can." I said and Derek nudged me then I hung up my phone.

        "We have another problem."

"What else could possibly be wrong, Derek?"

"Stiles is missing." Oh my God.

"Tell Scott I'll be there shortly, I just have to grab Demi and I'll be there. Everything always goes wrong when I'm freaking pregnant." I shook my head then swung my legs to the edge of the bed and headed to my closet.

I put on deodorant then a black lace shirt over a black bra, black skinny jeans and a long grey pea coat. I threw my hair into a messy bun then quickly brushed my teeth and grabbed my phone, car keys, and gun. I went to Riley's room and quickly woke her up and she threw on some clothes then we headed for Demi's house. I was feeling anxious and terrified as I sped down the road.
