Chapter 31:

Who's going to die, Connor? Who will it be?! All heroes must fall, Connor. The question is which one will die? All heroes must fall, they must!!!!! Chaos cannot be beat! I cannot be defeated!! If you help me, I'll spare you, or maybe I can spare one of your kids?

"Make it stop!!!!" I wailed. Derek tried to get me to calm down, but I couldn't. It wouldn't stop!!!

Who's gonna die? Who's gonna die? Who will die, Connor?!! You don't have forever to decide. Join me and I will spare you or a person of your choice, but either way Connor someone will die. Time is ticking away, Connor, but the damage I will cause is only going to increase.

"Oh my God!!! Make it stop!!!! Make him shut the hell up!!!"

"Connor!! Connor look at me dammit!!!" Derek screamed while squeezing my jaw with his masculine hand trying to get me to focus on him, but I couldn't. "Connor, look at me. Look in my eyes baby. Focus on me. Remember the bracelet, Connor? Focus on me, baby. Focus on my voice, Connor." Slowly the nogitsune's voice slowly started to fade and Derek's brought me back.

"Dederek, it it wants me to join. I, I have an hour and he says he'll he'll spare me or a person of my choice. What what am I supposed to do. Derek?"

"Shh, baby, you said you have an hour. We'll worry about it in half an hour."

"You are seriously considering his offer?" Chris asked.

"If it can save Connor's life absolutely, I am considering it."

"Are you forgetting the fact that we are dealing with a trickster spirit? He is probably just tricking her into helping him so that he can keep her from killing him. Connor is the strongest werewolf in your pack and if he has her along with Demi then he will win for sure. He'll kill everyone or worse; he'll make Connor do it and have her live with the guilt. This game we are playing, it's his game and it's a game without rules. He'll do anything to win."

"And so will we, there has to be a way we can trick him."

"Like you did with Jennifer?" Chris said and Derek nodded.

"The problem is, we are dealing with a much more complicated and older supernatural being. He's had centuries to perfect his game and we don't even have an hour. How are we supposed to beat him at his own game?"

"As Peter would say, we improvise." Derek said.

"I don't think improvising is such a good idea when dealing with such a heavy matter. We're talking about risking my alpha's life, your mate's life. This shouldn't be taken lightly." Demi spoke.

"Another thing I find alarming is the fact that she is taken on the characteristics of a banshee. It isn't possible except for one supernatural."

"That's impossible because she's our creator. How would she be taking the form of another?"

"If anyone would know it would be Deaton or her temporary emissary."

"Scott texted me and told me there are two Stiles, but one is the nogitsune." I said and Derek sighed.

Derek, Demi, and I went into the elevator and Chris followed but didn't get in.

"You had a gun pointed at my head, you could have killed me but you didn't. Why?" Derek said.

"You're not my enemy and I'm not yours."

"We need to find him," Derek said, "we need to be out there looking for him."

        "Because?" Demi questioned.

        "He's getting stronger," Derek stated.

"If he has the power to do this then-"

"He's stronger than ever," Derek and I finished Chris' sentence.

"We don't have to look for him," Demi said.

"He'll come looking for us," Chris sighed then the elevator doors closed and we began our descent.

"Maybe we can offer an ultimatum like we did with Deucalion and Jennifer?" I suggested and Derek shook his head.

"He's smarter and less desperate than that." Derek sighed.

"Smarter yes, but is he really less desperate? I mean, he doesn't want us in the way if we are indeed the solution." Demi said.

"It's always when I am pregnant." I growled.

"You're telling me," Derek sighed in agreement.

"We need a plan," Demi murmured then we all started off towards the loft, but I stopped when I felt something.

Something was wrong with the twins.

        "What's wrong?" Derek asked me.

"The twins, they're hurt." I said.

"Where are they?" Demi asked me

"The woods, " I whispered, "where they found Malia Tate."

We all took off running and Derek helped one of the twins while I took the other. We ran as fast as we could as we dodged the bullets. I wouldn't be affected by the wolfsbane, but if I was shot in the abdomen my twins could die. Demi was throwing water left and right then I saw her stop and focus like I had taught her. Soon the earth began to rumble and a barrier rose between us and the bullets. We managed to take cover in a coyote den.

"Do you know who shot us?" Aiden.

"We were a little occupied saving your arses," Demi sighed.

        "Where are we?" Aiden.

"In a coyote den, now be quit." I whispered.

"We need to get you out of here because the wolfsbane is just spreading." Derek said then he called Chris.

Chris helped us bring the twins to the loft and Derek showed him the shell casing he found and it looked familiar.

"Can I see that? Cody taught me a trick. Maybe I can figure out who the owner is?" I asked and I grabbed the casing then sat down and went to meditate and focus on finding the owner of the casing, but Chris grabbed the casing out of my hand.

"You need to focus on healing the twins," Chris said.

"What if I can't heal them?"

"Try giving them a little bit of your blood for now." Chris said then Allison called him and he had tried to beg her to wait for him.

I think there is more to it. There's always more and Chris knows that. We all know that, but right now Allison is right. There isn't time to wait, there just isn't time. I had fifteen minutes left to decide. I had just fifteen minutes, but maybe he'll give me a grace period. Maybe he's desperate enough to take an ultimatum, we'll have to see.

"I need more time," I said.

Time, time is precious and easily wasted. Which is what you have done Connor. I don't think you are deserving of more time.

"Please, I need more time. Surely you take time with making important decisions?"

I don't make decisions I make moves and I know that is exactly what you are trying to do, Connor.
