(Loraine's POV)

It was a very windy Friday afternoon in Colorado. The palm trees outside of my house were swaying as if there was a hurricane, and the tree that was outside my room was scraping my window with its gnarled branches. It was summer and I found myself in my room looking up at my textured, teal-colored ceiling. I was imagining varieties of shapes in my mind. I formed a hippo, a spider monkey, and a giraffe.

That's how bored I was!

A few minutes later, I felt my phone vibrate that was lying in my bed. I reached towards it and answered.

"Hello?"

"Hey Loraine," It was my best friend Rebecca.

"Oh hey, what's up?" I asked cheerfully, while sitting up in my bed.

"Nothing," she sighed tiredly through the line. "Just here bored in my room... listening to my annoying siblings fight."

"Sounds like fun," I muttered sarcastically.

"Yeah, real fun," she scoffed back at me. "So hey, I was thinking if you wanted to go to the carnival tonight?"

"Count me in!" I said without hesitation.

Truth is I've been dying to go to the carnival for days now. Every time I wanted to go, my older sister Julia was working, my brother Derek was too busy taking care of my baby niece, and my twin brother Logan had football camp ( but it's not like I would've invited him either way ).

"Alright," she said. "Meet me at my house in thirty minutes."

"Cool," I nodded to myself even though she couldn't see me. "Don't forget to invite Scarlett."

Scarlett was my other best friend. Everywhere I went, I always had Rebecca and Scarlett by my side. We were never seen alone without each other. At school we were known as "The Three Musketeers". We had been best friends since we were practically in our mother's stomach, but it's because our mothers were best friends since they were in high school. So they pretty much decided to make us all friends when we first began to talk, which is why we're inseparable now.

"Of course not," Rebecca said. "I'll invite her right away."

"Good," I smiled. "See you then."

After I hung up, I quickly stood up from my queen size bed and went towards my huge walk-in closet. I wanted to wear something comfortable but knew that it was going to be hard to find in my dull wardrobe. Since all of my clothes are vintage, (you can thank Rebecca for this) probably the only comfortable threads I have would be my PJs. In case I wouldn't find anything, I could just go through Julia's closet and grab something from there.

Thank goodness for older sisters!

(Rebecca's POV)

After I hung up, I quickly called Scarlett and informed her that we'd be going out tonight. I made my way to my closet and looked for the outfit my mother and I had design a couple of weeks ago. If anything, I love designing my own clothes and jewelry. It was something my mom and I would do when I was younger, and still do together when we have time. I guess you could say this was my hobby.

35 Minutes Later...

Scarlett and I were currently in my living room waiting for Loraine to arrive. She was always the late one for everything. If you were friends with her, you'd really have to have a lot of patience.

Ding Dong.

We heard the doorbell ring.

"That must be Loraine," Scarlett said as we headed to open the door.
