The unexpected happened…
The next thing I know, it was pitch black everywhere I looked. I screamed bloody murder since I did not expect that at all. Then all of a sudden, a hand clamped over my mouth. I freaked out a little before I realized that it was only Caden.
“Shh, Gabrielle. It's just the storm, you’ll be fine.” I nodded. “If I take my hand off your mouth, are you going to scream again?” I shook my head this time, of course I wouldn’t scream. I only screamed in the first place because the power suddenly went off. How did that not freak him out at all? I ask myself. “Alright, then think rationally. We need to find some flashlights; do you know where they’d be?”
I nodded and took his hand from my mouth before slowly guiding us along the hallway, to the left, and into the kitchen to where the junk drawer would be. It was hard to find anything in there since; of course, the 'junk drawer' has all of our random junk. Also since it was pitch black throughout the house until the power came back on, or the sun came back up. I had to be careful since there are some sharp objects in the junk drawer as well.
“Ah ha!” I yelled in victory as I found a working flashlight. Too bad, it was aimed right in Caden's face when I turned it on. He hissed. “Sorry!” I exclaimed, and pointed it towards my feet. But that didn't take away what I'd just seen. When he'd hissed, I saw fangs and red eyes, no joke. That can’t be possible, though. I mean…not unless he’s – no. At that moment, I'd just blamed it on the fact that I was freaked out already.
“No – it’s fine.” He still sounded a little disoriented; I felt bad for that..
“Okay...so, um, what do you want to do? I mean, if you don't have anywhere to be…” I said, slightly panicked. I’ve never been very well with being at home alone, on a stormy night especially; they’ve scared me ever since I was little. I like them and all, but if I’m home alone they scare me. I have no clue why though.
As if he read my thoughts, he said, “I don't have anywhere to be. Even if I did, I wouldn't leave you here by your lonesome when it’s storming and the power has gone out.”
The little audience in my head said ‘Aww.’ I ignored it and instead said, “Thanks, um, do you want something while we’re in the kitchen then?”
“No, actually, I'm fine.”
“Mkay... Well, we could go to my room and watch a movie, if that's okay with you?” He raised an eyebrow in a silent question, “I have a portable DVD player.” I rushed to assure him as I didn’t want him to think…things.
“Oh. Alright, lead the way.”
So, I did. I grabbed his hand and led him through the halls, up the stairs, and into my room. I freaked a little when I couldn't remember if I cleaned my room recently or not. Seeing as neither of us tripped on anything, I guess so. That’s pretty freaking shocking.
“You can sit either on my bed or the couch, whichever one you want. I'm gonna go pick out a movie.”
I went to my collection of movies; I couldn’t decide what would be the best movie to watch right now. I finally picked Never Back Down, I seriously love that movie! Hot guys and fighting…okay, I’m getting off track. Next was to find my DVD player in which I found on my desk that I really need to organize or something. Finally, I plopped down on my stomach next to Caden who was on my bed.
“What's that?” Caden inquired while looking at the DVD case.
“Never Back Down.” I said in an excited tone, bouncing on my bed.
“Never Back Down?”
“Hell yea, do you have a problem with that?” I ask with playful attitude.
“No, I don't." He was amused, I could tell by his voice.
“Just shut up and watch.” I scolded, lightly hitting his shoulder.
“Oww...” He muttered, faking that my hit hurt him.
“I can make you think 'ow' in a second if you don't hush and watch the movie.”
“Oooh, fiesty, I like.” He stated whilst winking, I blushed at that, and didn't bother to retort. The movie was at least halfway through when I felt my eyelids start to get heavy…

I’m guessing we both fell asleep because by the time I woke up it was two in the morning. To say I was shocked at the position I woke up in, would be a severe understatement. Somehow, I ended up with my head on his chest under his chin, our legs tangled, and our arms around each other. Usually, if you’d wake up next to someone you'd just met that day, in that position...it’d be pretty awkward and peculiar. I didn’t remember anything that happened after I had started the movie either.
The weird thing, though, as cheesy as it sounds, this felt right, like he was the missing piece of my puzzle. It then occurred to me that I only knew him for a day, yet I'd already started to like him. That’s really strange, was my last thought before I fell back into oblivion.

The next time I woke up was because of the alarm on my phone going off. I quickly shut it off like any other morning and stretched, trying to coax myself into getting up. Why am I so tired? I know I actually went to sleep fairly early… The next moment, I remembered everything that had happened last night, and looked around my room only to find it empty. I wonder where Caden went? I quickly used my attached bathroom then headed through the house to see if anyone was here. My brother was already gone; mom was still sleeping and my uncle was still sleeping as well.
I thought that maybe Caden would be in the kitchen eating, so I went that way. Yet, once I entered the kitchen, I felt a rush of disappointment seeing as it was empty. I kind of knew it would be, though. I quickly ate some Frosted Flakes, and then went to my room to get ready for school. Since Zac had left already, I texted Christina to see if she'd give me a ride.
I grabbed my bag off my floor, and looked at my phone as it pinged telling me I had a new text. It was from Christina.
Christina – Of course I can. I’m your bestie for a reason, right?
Me – Awesomesauce :D Well, duh, there’s a reason for everything.
Christina – Lol, don’t I know it. I’m on my way, be there in 5, so be ready!
I found some shoes to go with my outfit before going downstairs as I knew Christina would be there any second. Of course she was there exactly when she said she would be. She’s a little too punctual sometimes. Ten minutes later, we were back in Hell for the second day.
