I was right.
As soon as I stepped through the door, I was bombarded with questions like 'where have you been all day' and 'why didn't you go to school' and blah blah blah. I just ignored all the questions and waited patiently for them to shut up already so I could talk. After five minutes of them still not quieting down, I decided I would myself, and whistled. They quieted down immediately, so I took that as my chance to explain what happened, using the scrapes on my hands and knees as evidence.
They told me not to do anything like that again, said some other things that I didn't care to listen to, and then asked if I was hungry. Seriously? I shook my head at them for two reasons: one, because apparently they didn't listen to anything I had just said and two, because I had just eaten, so therefore, I wasn't hungry.
I decided to go upstairs and go to sleep since I couldn't last night. That was a good idea seeing as I fell asleep right when my head hit the pillow. A little while later, I was woken up by my phone going off insistently. I reached over on my nightstand to grab it, and almost dropped it on my face when trying to look at it through sleepy eyes. There were messages from the girls, mostly Chrisina, and one from Erik. I deleted Erik's and went through all the rest. I made the decision to just call Christina and explain everything, knowing it'd be a lot easier than trying to text her.
While waiting for her to pick up the phone, I realized I'd been sleeping for about four hours, but I felt like I only slept for five minutes. Ring...ring...come on Christina, pick up already! "What the hell is wrong with you Gabrielle Summers?" She screamed through the phone, making me wince and hold my phone a little ways away until she had stopped screaming at me. By the time she did, though, I was almost asleep again.
"Are you done," I ask, hoping that she didn't just stop to get a second wind.
"Yes," she grumbled grumpily. And I thought I was the one who needed to get some sleep? I then explained to her everything that had occurred today, and I mean everything. When I told my family, I didn't tell them about the Hershey kiss thing, the chasing through his home library, or him trying to get me to kiss him multiple times. They would've freaked out even more than they already were, and I did not feel like dealing with that.Well, my brother would've freaked out, but Mom and Taylor would've started doing and asking embarrassing things.
When I got done telling her all of that, she started squealing. Loudly. In my ear. Which is probably going to go deaf now! Okay, that was probably a slight exaggeration, but I did have to switch my phone to hear what she was saying. "–adorable! You guys are so cute together, but I can't believe you ditched me and school for him!" Oh my gosh!
"I didn't! Do I have to tell you the whole story again? 'Cause I will."
"Whatever," she grumbles, "so...why wouldn't you kiss him?" I groan at the fact that she is once again screaming in my ear, and my good one at that.
"Because I barely know him! I mean, yea, he's cute and nice and fun..." I trail off getting lost in thoughts about a gorgeous black haired, blue eyed guy. I shake my head to get back on point, "okay, that's beside the point. I guess I'm still scared that what happened with Tyler is going to happen again." She sighs on the other end. "Girl, you really need to get over that already...it's been four years..." She says somberly, and as much as I hated to admit it, she was right.
You see, I was twelve when I met Tyler, and he was sixteen. I was a naive little girl who wanted attention from a boy because my daddy was never there to give it. He left us when I was five, but that's another story for another time. Tyler gave me all the attention a girl could ever need and more. He turned seventeen a month before I turned thirteen; on my thirteenth birthday, he gave me a necklace and asked me to be his girlfriend. Of course I was nervous and scared, but I said yes anyway. Our relationship was great, he never pressured me to do anything...well, until our six month anniversary...
