My Eyes Are Open

Explanation

As I sat down next to the king, he started talking. "I bet you would like an explanation as to why I called you here. You have probably already been told why you are here, so I will continue believing that you have. I have called you here to talk to you about what to do when I die. I am not going to live much longer, so you will need to listen closely."

I nodded to show that I was listening.

He continued. After he was done, he went on to a different subject. Marriage.

"In order to rule, you must get married. It must be a nobleman. I except no less from my daughter. You have a limited amount of time from when I die to do so, or you will not be able to rule any longer. I suggest you find a husband soon." He said.

I was shocked. I didn't know what to do. I was only 15. "Yes sir, but may I please say something?" I asked.

He nodded.

"I am only 15 years old, and I do not know anyone besides the few people I have met." I stated. "Also, I am sorry for asking, but.... Um.... How do I know that I am your daughter, as well as the heir to the throne?"

"My child. I know you may be confused, but believe me. While you were asleep, the palace scientists ran some tests." He said. THE HECK!!! WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!? I thought. "You are my daughter. You were kidnapped by the Earthling's secret base when you were an infant. They compiled a series of baby photos to make you and your guardians believe that you were theirs. We believe that they wiped your 'parents' memories of not having a second child and replaced them with memories of you. You are home. I love you, my child. Now, please go back to your room and rest. Feel free to come and talk to me anytime. Just make sure to knock and state your name first." He replied.

I did as I was told, but before I left his room I said, "Thank you."

I went back to my room and slept. I wasn't sure what to think, so I just slept. When I woke up, I saw food. Ani was beside me. "You're up. We have already had dinner. The king said to let you sleep. You have a meeting with your cousin tomorrow. You should eat and then go back to sleep." Ani said.

I ate. There were some strange foods, but they were good. I went back to sleep.

         ****The next morning****

"Ma'am. You need to wake up. You have a full day today." I woke up to one of the maids talking to me. "What's on my schedule for today.... Uh.... What is your name?" I said.

"You may call me any thing you like, but I go by Annalise." She said. "Ok, thank you. I think I will call you Anna." I said. Anna looked at me, then looked away, and then took me by the hand and put me in the chamber of death.
