Sickness Would Be Worth A Kiss

Another day of work. Another day to see Thomas. Another day to appreciate James.

A relationship had formed between the two as James did his best to stick by Thomas, but always refused his offered kisses. "You'll get sick and I'll feel incredibly guilty, it's not worth the risk." James always said.

"But you're worth every risk. And I won't get sick so easily." Thomas always retorted. And today was another routine attempt at a kiss.

Thomas appeared behind James in the hallway, hands held behind his back. "How do I convince you to give me a little kiss?" James was startled, dropping a few sheets of paper from his pile. Quickly picking them back up, he turned to face Thomas with an unamused expression.

"How do I convince you to stop trying? Thomas, we've been over this a thousand times over." He sighed exasperatedly, rubbing his temple. "If it'll make you happy, you can take me out into the gardens tonight and I'll consider." Turning back, James resumed walking to his office. Thomas gasped in excitement, running up to James and wrapping his arms around the smaller man's waist from behind.

"Oh, you can't even imagine how happy I am! I never thought the prospect of a simple kiss could be this exciting." He pressed a small kiss to James' cheek before letting go and happily skipping down the hallway. James shook his head, pressing a hand to his blushing cheek and laughing to himself. What a child Thomas could be sometimes.

Having finished all of his work early that night, Thomas eagerly waited outside of James' office and impatiently knocked on the door. "Do you happen to be finished yet?" He constantly asked, glancing down at his pocket watch.

"Not yet, stop asking me." James called through the door with an audible sigh.

After what seemed like an age to Thomas, the door creaked open and James peaked through with a deadpan expression. "Alright, you can stop knocking now." He stepped out with his arms crossed. Thomas, like an excited puppy, grabbed James' hand and raced down the hallway and out the door. James had a hard time keeping up and didn't much appreciate the running, but a small laugh escaped his lips and he smiled.

Reaching the lovely garden that had started the chain of events leading up to this moment, James managed to free his arm from Thomas' grasp and rubbed it. "You really do have a strong grip, you must be more careful." He scolded, sitting down at the round table.

Thomas sat down opposite to James with his legs crossed, leaning back in his chair. "If there ever was a more beautiful night than this, I would've carried you here. Just look at those stars." He gazed up at the night sky with equally bright eyes, sighing happily.

"The stars sure are magnificent tonight." James agreed, reaching forward and plucking a small red rose from a hedge.

"But they aren't half as beautiful or magnificent as-"

"Don't."

Thomas rolled his eyes playfully, moving his seat closer to James. "Aw, what do you have against romantic lines like that?"

"I don't. It's just that you're completely wrong."

"Wrong? How so?" Thomas tilted his head, raising a brow.

"Because the stars tonight aren't half as beautiful or magnificent as you, not me."

James placed the rose on the table, turning to look up at the stars. Thomas opened his mouth to refute such an absurd statement, but instead joined in the viewing. They sat there for a while in silence until Thomas piped up. "So, how about that kiss?"

"Not until you do something extra romantic." James bluntly replied, turning to Thomas.

Thomas stood up, brushing himself off, and offered James a hand. "Would you care for a dance?" James gladly took the other man's hand and stood, placing a hand on his shoulder. With that, the two began a waltz amongst the flowers under the moonlight as Thomas softly hummed a sweet tune.

All good things come to an end though, and James managed to trip over himself and let out a startled cry. Thomas quickly caught James which ended up looking like a less than graceful dip rather than a clumsy trip. They awkwardly stared into each other's eyes in that position, too embarrassed to say anything. Thomas broke the silence, blushing lightly. "I rather enjoyed the dance, you make a great dance par-"

"Quiet, you." James cut him off, resting a hand to Thomas' cheek and gently kissing him. Thomas was surprised but welcomed the kiss, leaning into it and smiling.
