Chapter three

"Quick! Bring water!" Tessa has regained her senses and dashes forwards to the hideout. She swirls around and uses some earth to extinguish the fire at the doorway.

"Where can I get water?" I ask, "There's nothing around."

Tessa curses. She tries to find a way in to save the others who are still inside. Yet, the fire is too heavy. It's almost impossible to survive, but she doesn't give up. I notice that Yaten and Zeke have disappeared.

"Maybe I can help." Shakey has got up. His cut isn't that bad anymore. Even though his t-shirt was drenched in his blood. The rebel leader stares at him and doesn't reply. Her eyes tells him enough. Together they start to put out the fire with their powers. However, it isn't that effective. The progress goes slowly. Meanwhile I help Leonie up. She puts her useful arm around my neck to keep her balance. The other one is still bleeding.

"It's not really working!" Shakey blows out another flame. He is heavily breathing. Using his magic takes a lot of his energy. Tessa clenches her fist.

"That's it!" She shouts on the top of her lunges. She has had enough of it. She lifts her arms and as they go higher, the earth around her rises up in the air. It multiplies. She swirls around and with one swing, she ends the burning flames. Tessa enters what's left of the now destroyed base in an instant. All that remains are smouldering ashes. When she hears a cracking sound, she runs out and views how the building collapse.

"Tessa!" Leonie exclaims. I have dragged her along. We can see the damage.

"We were too late." is the only thing the rebel leader says. She drops her gaze.

"No..." Leonie mumbles. Tears arrive in her eyes. She falls down to her knees. She repeats the word over and over again. She bangs with her good hand against the ground. Shakey bends down and lays his arms around her shoulders. The girl looks up to face him. Despair is in her eyes. Tessa turns away from the impotence, paces to her coat and puts it on.

"Let's go." She emits coldly. Her green eyes are as hard as stone. Shakey helps Leonie up, who lays her head against him. We give the crushed hideout one last glimpse, except for Tessa, who firmly walks farther. I feel sorry for the two girls who have just lost their home and even their family. I remain silent and follow. I kind of imagine how much it must hurt. After all, I can sense the feelings that linger around. This time, sadness embraces the group.

We sit around the campfire. No one intends to talk or even open their mouth. I watch everyone closely. The others stare into the fire which brings back in their minds what has happened a few hours ago. The wounds of Shakey and Leonie have nicely healed. Tessa has told us that every element has it's own curing spells and she appears to know some. Leonie gapes into the fire. Her eyes show no emotions. Nothing. Why do they keep on following us? Why did Zeke kill the other rebels? Fortunately, Shakey's bag hadn't been in the hideout, so we still have our dinner which we are eating.

"I won't forgive them." Leonie mumbles all of a sudden. She has swung her arms around her legs. We switch our gaze to her. Tessa shakes her head, saying: "It'll have to wait. First of all we'll both have to visit Tirkia City to check if the others are doing well."

Shakey takes out his map.

"Tirkia City is quite far." I notice that there's another small town between the city we are heading to and the one they want to go to.

"What's in Tirkia?" I ask curiously.

"The main base is there," She smiles just like she is revealing a big secret, "Isn't it obvious that the leader stays in the head building? That's why I lived with a small group in this forest."
