Chapter ten

"Come on! We're almost there!" Jaël screams cheerfully at us. I can't believe she can be this energetic at this time of the day. It's still morning. Nonetheless, she's energetic all the time. It took us two days to get here. After we get over the hill, we view the largest city I've ever seen. Testa, the capital city.

"Whoa," I gawk, "It's so big!"

The skyscrapers were bigger than the trees in the forest. As we get closer, I hear more cars riding than I have ever heard before. There's so much noise in the city. I bet anyone can hear it, even people without sharp-witted ears. Near the entrance, you can get a map. Both Jaël and Shakey buy one.

"I think it's the best that we find a place to stay." He proposes. We agree. After an hour, we finally arrive at a cheap hotel. It took us that long because Jaël, who wanted to guide us, kept misreading the map.

"I'm off," Jaël says when we are in our room, "I'll be back tonight."

"Ok, we'll go to the Ounihus." Shakey shares a smile with me. I'm burning with excitement. I might find more answers. By every step we take, I feel that we're getting closer. Shakey takes out the map and crosses where we are and where we have to go. We decide to take our backpack with us, because he promised me that we would go shopping. I haven't really done it before. As we walk on the pavement, it amazes me how many people can actually live in one city. I spend most of the time gawking at everything I see around me. Then we show up in front of the Ounihus. When we enter the building, we notice how crowded it actually is.

"Are all these people to find someone?" I ask amazed.

"No," He chuckles, "The Ounihus doesn't only do that. They also create money cards, that are cards which you can use to pay with. I don't have one though. Drivers licenses are made here too. To put it together, this is a necessary building."

I had never thought of it that way. We line up and after a while it's our turn. We come up with the same excuse and fortunately, they let me use the device for my fingerprints. The computer searches. Impatiently, I wait for her reply.

"I'm sorry," She looks sadly at me, "You never lived in the Eastern Region. There are no records with your fingerprints."

I feel how my happiness fades instantly. Things would have been a lot easier if I had lived here.

"Oh ok." I mumble.

"Thank you." Shakey drags me outside by wrapping his fingers around my wrist. When we're outside, I turn to him.

"Sorry," I apologize, "Due to me, we have to travel to another Region."

"Don't worry," His common smile is set on his face, "I'm not leaving anything in particular behind, just my old house. Besides, there aren't many people who would miss me. And I get to travel to places I've never been before. Meeting you is the best thing that happened in my life." He kisses me passionately on my lips. I melt for him.

"Let's go." He holds my hand in his and together we walk towards the shopping streets.

We buy food and other things that could come in handy since we're preparing ourselves to set sail.

"To which Region are we going?" I ask all of a sudden.

He shrugs. "We'll see."

While we're busy shopping, we get into a clothes shop.

"Do you need any new clothes?" He asks. I turn to him surprised.

"No, why?"

"I don't know. Perhaps you have grown tired of the ones you're wearing now."
