With a soft groan, I woke up the next day on the couch down in the lab, the blanket I brought with still on top of me. I rubbed my eyes, sitting up, before looking around. That was odd, I couldn't find Anthony. Maybe he had woken up early and decided to get some work done? But then he'd still be down here.

Shaking my head and trying not to worry to much, I stood up and stretched. My long raven hair fell into my face and practically blinded me. I blew a few strands out of my face. I should probably get this cut soon. With s yawn, I reached to grab the remote so I could turn the television off when my fingers grazed past a slip of paper. I picked it up and read it over.

Loki-

Assuming your husband didn't wake you, I wrote you this note to explain his absence.

The Avengers got called at seven this morning. If we're already home then you don't have to worry, but if you're just now getting up and we're still not home, come find us.

Crossbones decided to cause a scene and, though it's normally easy to take him down, he's brought back up and by the looks of it, I think it's a slim chance we're gonna win. Now, I don't want you to risk yourself and your unborn child just to help us, but I do want you to do everything in your power to save yourself and Tony- you two deserve your happy ending. I've already talked to Tony about this and, even though he isn't too happy that I'm dragging you into this, he understands it's the right thing to do.

-Bruce

I paused, the paper slipping through my nimble fingers. How was I just now noticing how quiet the tower was? It's never this quiet in the morning. My breath caught.

Rushing up the stairs, I glanced wildly around for the clock. I prayed to whoever would be listening that it was only seven thirty and nothing major has happened yet. But I was met with 10:34 staring back at me in red light, like it was taunting me. I scowled back at it as if that would help.

"Mrs. Stark, are you alright?" JARVIS asked. I blinked a few times, reality sinking in. I shook my head, my breathing shallow. "Calm down, Mistress, everything will be alright."

"No. No, it won't be." I whispered before rushing towards a window. The team or my husband was nowhere in sight. "JARVIS, where are they?"

"Bleaker Street, Mrs. Stark." The A.I responded. "But I'd advise against going. You could inflict damage to yourself or unborn child." I shook my head, sprinting for the door. "Mister Stark will disassemble me if anything happened to you two."

"What would he do if something happened to him?" I pressed. JARVUS remains silent. Scrunching my nose, I changed the lounge pants I was wearing into skinny jeans. That would be easier to move in. "If something happens to him and I could've stopped it, that's on me." I told the A.I. as I pulled my hair back.

"Mister Stark would not blame you, Mistress."

"Who said anything about Anthony being the one to blame me?" I countered. He stated silent for a moment. Shutting my eyes, I tried to regulate my breathing before running off again, this time heading in the direction of Bleaker Street.

Once there, my breathing stopped as I took in the scene before me. Captain America was practically fighting for his life against Crossbones, Black Widow and Hawkeye took to long distance and had been firing things in their direction, trying their best to avoid Captain America. Hulk was no where in sight but he was probably preparing for something big. Anthony was flying around Cap and crossbones, shooting energy beams at him when he got the chance. Thor was no where in sight either. I rolled my eyes. That oaf.

"Anthony!" I shouted, earning his attention. He paused, flipping up his face mask. Someone took that as a sign of weakness and shot him down. I ran towards him, making sure he was okay and summoning my battle armor and staff along the way. Throwing my staff at Crossbones' head, I knelt down by my husband's side.

"What do you think you're doing here?" He questioned, swatting my hands away and sitting up. I sat back on my knees. "You could get yourself killed!" He pointed out. I nodded.

"I know, I know. But Bruce said-"

"I know damn well what Bruce said!" He cut off. My lip quivered slightly. Stupid hormones. Anthony's expression softened, pulling me in for a hug. "Look, I love you and I don't know what I'd do if you died trying to save me." I laughed slightly. He pulled back in order to kiss me.

We both stood up. Anthony looked around the scene to make sure everyone was okay. Steve had the upper hand on Crossbones now that I had stunned him, Nat and Clint were unharmed, still shooting bullets and arrows from up high, and Thor and Bruce were still nowhere in sight.

"Where's Bruce and Thor?" I asked. Anthony pulled me away, almost shoving me into an alley. "Anthony!" I scolded. He smiled apologetically.

"They went to help out civilians. No need for you to worry." I nodded slightly. Anthony started punching numbers in the air, probably doing something inside the suit. "I ordered a jet to come and take us." He announced. I pursed my lips.

"Take us to where?" I pressed. He cupped my cheek, his brown eyes melting.

"Malibu." He stated. "I've got a house there. It'll be safer, no one to attack us." I nodded slightly. "And after this-" He looked towards the scene. "After this I'm retiring."

I smiled faintly before furrowing my brows in confusion. "What about the team?" He shook his head slightly.

"The team can manage without me." I frowned. He didn't have to do that.

A moment later, the jet came. Anthony and I boarded and took our seats. My knee bounced, my nerves calming down as we waited to take off. Anthony took my hand from across the table and held it, sending me a reassuring smile.

"Hey, I'm right here, everything's fine." I nodded knowing he was right. We were about to take off when I heard a massive explosion come from below.

"Did you hear that?" I asked, sitting forward in my seat to look out the window. Anthony has grown pale.  "JARVIS where did that explosion come from?" I asked.

"I'm afraid it came from the fight, Mistress."

Anthony turned to me before whipping his head towards the window. All we could see was smoke and all we heard was the engine coming from the jet. We took off and, as we looked at the battle area from the top view, we couldn't see anyone. It was just black ash. Anthony gripped the armrest.

"No!"
