Author's notes: Prepare for feels at last chapter. And no, this isn't the last chapter. Stop it. The last chapter should be like twenty-ish??? IDK

"Three moons. Three moons."

Winter's eyelids fluttered open, light streaming into his vision. He tried to get up, and then all of a sudden a sharp sting of agony crackled in his veins, and he groaned, pushing himself back onto...whatever he was on.

It was a couch, a brown, leather one that smelt rather quite like fruits and lavender and cinnamon.

"Stay still. Pretty sure it still hurts," A voice mumbled, which Winter recognized painfully as Moon's.

"Where in the world am I?" Winter put an arm around his face, trying to block the blinding light that kept trying to pry into his eyes. He could hear talonsteps fading and rising at the same time, walking around.

"Some place where Qibli won't find you," Moon answered cordially. "Speaking of Qibli, he's at the Principal's office. On timeout."

"Timeout?" Winter choked a laugh, but it came out all throaty and hoarse. "What is he, five?"

Moon shot a glare in Winter's direction. "You know what I mean. He's in trouble for getting into a fight- you told him, didn't you?"

"Told him what?"

"You know what I mean!" Moon yelled, and something clattered on the floor. "I thought you would think better than to get yourself and Qibli into such a stupid mess- I guess I was wrong."

"I didn't tell him!" Winter barked. "Qibli found out on his own. He's too smart. You and I both know that Qibli has the intelligence of a thousand professors. That, and he heard you talking outside your dorm, which made him think you were cheating on him."

"We broke up," Moon said softly, as if the slightest mention of the topic hurt her. "It's over now. He doesn't have to be mad about that."

"I'm pretty sure his negative emotions back there made him suspicious of me. I don't even think he trusts me anymore even if I said we broke up." Winter countered, his wings sagging.

"Maybe that's because nobody trusted you in the first place," Moon said coldly, picking up a plastic plate from the floor. She sighed, rubbing her temples. "Sorry, I didn't mean it that way."

"How's Icicle?"

Moon pursed her lips, her eyes darting to the ceiling.

"How's Icicle?" Winter asked again, sitting up, ignoring the agony that crackled into his body. He needed to know how his sister was doing.

"Jail."

That was the one word Winter hoped he wouldn't hear, yet he did, the word ringing, chiming like the echoes across the tundra. He clenched his jaw, lunging forward.

"What do you mean, jail?" Winter asked, his mind spiraling into terrible, terrible scenarios Icicle could be in.

"She's at the Ice Kingdom," Moon said slowly, as if Winter was a small dragonet. "Where Glacier will decide a suitable punishment. Icicle is held in jail at the moment."

Winter huffed in frustration, his wings outstretched. "Great. You told them, didn't you?"

Moon stayed silent, her scales shimmering with reflected sunlight. "You should be fine," She said, ignoring his last question. "You may experience pain, but you're free to go."

"Tell me!" Winter felt a flare of anger ignite in his chest, bubbling with molten ice. "Did you snitch on my sister? I told you not to-"

"-your sister did something horribly wrong and I am not going to stand by and watch it play out!" Moon shot back, her tail lashing, nearly knocking over a nearby table.

"Her rank might be affected! She might be downgraded into the Third Circle, or even worst, move out of the palace-"

"-I don't care about her rank. She attempted murder on the Prophecy Dragonets. And oh, wait! She's working with Queen Scarlet! The evil mastermind that's literally the worst criminal of all time!" Moon argued. "What makes you think Icicle's worthy of forgiveness?"

Winter studied Moon's gaze, his eyes glazed over, sealing any possible emotions. "You don't know Icicle. She's my sister. You don't know the times when she's protective of me and Hailstorm, you don't the times we had- bonding and having fun- you don't know all of these! You don't understand the dragon Icicle used to be, Moon."

"Used to be," The NightWing hissed.

"I don't need to listen to this nonsense." Winter said finally, his chest welling up with a surge of emotion. He got up despite the pain that engulfed his spine, and wrenched open the door, going out and slamming the door behind him. He didn't have to listen anything from Moon. He just couldn't, hearing all the suspicion and doubt about Icicle made him all sick and messy inside.

If we can't agree on things, then we can't be together.

Winter didn't know why that simple thought affected him so much. It wasn't supposed to; he moved on a long time ago.

It's over, isn't it?

Winter walked into the hallways, brushing his wings against the walls. His heart throbbed with the all-too-familiar pain that he was used to. It was the pain he felt when Hailstorm left, it was the pain he felt when he realized Icicle got herself in trouble- it was the same pain that made his stomach sink like a weight in the ocean.

Then he passed the Principal's office, which was a room covered in glass and modern furniture, a sparse room that seemed calm and peaceful, yet when he saw the familiar flash of yellow scales, he felt as if the room was the source of panics he didnt want to interact with.

Qibli lunged for Winter, and Wibter stayed still, unflinching and emotionless as if he had nothing else to care for in the world.

The only thing separating them was the sheet of glass, which proved to be stronger and harder than it seemed, the SandWing clawing at the glass, pounding away at it like there was no tomorrow. Glory firmly intructed him to sit down, and before Qibli could protest, Winter walked away, his feet shuffling against the cold floor.

He bumped into Tsunami, whom he recognized as the school counselor, blue and undaunting as ever.

"Congratulations, Winter," Tsunami said as she saw him. "I'm here to inform you that due to Qibli's aggressive behavior, you are now entitled to a private dormitory."

Winter was taken aback. He remembered when he first got here, demanding a private dormitory, yet when he heard the news, he didn't feel as satisfied or happy as he should be.

"Oh. Thanks." Winter sighed, walking past Tsunami, and went straight to his dormitory.

It was empty, Qibli's belongings cleared away. The room was an expanse of white, reminding Winter of the room he was accustomed to back at the Ice Kingdom, lifeless and hollow. It was clean and neat, nonetheless.

Stop lingering on the past, he told himself, although it didnt have much effect on him. Nothing's going to change anyway.

He rolled onto his bed, comfortable and cold, and slept without nightmares for the first time in weeks.

He dreamt of Moon.
