Qibli wasn't in the dormitary.

The room felt empty without him, but Winter could deal with the peaceful silence without any of the annoying chatter cluttering his brain all night long. He sighed, rubbing his temples. His knees and back still ached painfully, but there was nothing he could do about it.

A knock on the door.

Winter tripped over a gray hoodie and cursed loudly before wrenching the door open. A face of yellow scales and green eyes stood before him, her wings outstretched.

"Sunny," He winced, rolling his shoulders. His back still hurt.

"Winter." She replied, her eyes fixed on him, scanning every detail etched into Winter as if he was some kind of ancient artifact she was presumably fascinated in.

"What are you doing here?" Winter asked, hoping Sunny didn't hear him curse when he opened the door.

"Qibli told me about you." Sunny said, and Winter's heart dropped like a sinking glacier, his face toppling into an expression of defensiveness.

"I'm fine."

"You cried the whole night."

"That's none of your business."

"At Jade University, our students' condition is our utmost concern. That saying, it has every right for us to check in on you, no matter how you are doing."

Winter exhaled a long breath.

"Look, I don't know what you're talking about, so you might as well just leave."

"Excuse me?"

Sunny suddenly sounded like she could break a dragon's neck just by a flick of her claw. Her eyes stabbed into his face, narrowing like emerald slits.

"Winter. If you have any problem dealing with your brother's-"

"-That has nothing to do with me-"

"-I was talking. If you have any problem, you can approach any of us in the campus. But that is no excuse to put up such a behavior." Sunny said sharply.

Winter rubbed his snout, irritated. He didn't want to talk about this, not now, not ever.

"Alright."

Sunny nodded, satisfied.

"Alright then." She said, and her talonsteps faded away as she walked into the blurry background.

Winter closed the door as tightly as he could, gritting his teeth. A boiling storm picked up in his stomach and chest, bubbling with a foggy cloud of daze, confusion and anger. Qibli had told the Prophecy Dragonets about his condition.

Why does it seem like such a big deal to me?

Depression weighed down on his heart again, but it disappeared as the door clicked open, and a set of yellow scales popped up at the side of the room, but it wasn't Sunny.

"Qibli." Winter murmured, his eyes tired.

It was more late than usual. The silhouettes of the three moons hung in the starry sky like silver circles of eyes, surrounded by thousands of glittering stars.

"Winter! Uh... How was today?" Qibli asked, his voice hitching at the end as if his anxiety and nervousness were focused into his words.

"Sunny visited me. Just now."

Silence dropped over them, and the tingling energy between them vibrated with tension again, but Winter was way too tired to deal with it and Qibli was too scared to mess up anything.
