War Of gods

Chapter two

  It was an even war as neither sides were winning.The war raged in Olympus, the home of the gods.Bewildered by the death of his father, Perseus left Olympus, he swore avenge the death of his father when he returned.

    Knowing what Hades next plan was,he placed the mortal under his protective care.He protected her like a lioness would protect her cubs.But soon,Perseus was consumed with lust for the mortal.He had never come across anyone be it a god or a mortal who possessed the inexplicable beauty she possessed.He vowed to protect her at all cost.
 
   As the war in Olympus escalated, Ares, the god of war,son of Zeus and Hera was summoned. He fought vigorously with Hades and his disciples. Ares,with his overwhelming power and battle skills succeeded in driving Hades and his counterparts out of Olympus. He claimed his father's throne much to the delight of Hera, his mother,who he released from the confinement his father placed her in.

   Knowing fully well of how enchanted the gods were with the beautiful mortal,she feared that Ares, her son,might soon be overwhelmed by the beauty of the mortal.Hera came up with a new plan.She summoned Medusa, the only mortal of the three Gorgon sisters,the once beautiful maiden who was cursed by Athena thus making her a gorgon,a vicious monster with sharp fangs and the hair of living venomous snakes whose glance would turn the looker into a stone statue.

  Hera promised Medusa the elixir and the restoration of her beauty in return for the mortal's death.She was the perfect person for the job.
  
    One day,the mortal was at pantheon, a temple dedicated to all the gods,praying.Medusa realised that Perseus her guardian wasn't anywhere near the temple,it was the perfect opportunity for her to strike.Like a cold blooded monster she was, she cunningly sneaked up on the mortal.The bloodcurdling scream of the mortal was heard by nyx,the goddess of night whom she was praying to.Nyx immediately came to her aid as she caused darkness to fall upon the temple,thus making it impossible for the mortal to glance at the serpents on Medusa's head.That gave the mortal enough time to grope her way out of the temple and run.Perseus also heard the scream and was alerted.He was far away from the temple so he solicited for the help of Hermes, the god of cunning,theft,road and commerce who was his friend. Hermes was at the temple in a jiffy.
  
   With his tricky and cunningness, he fought medusa but his cunningness wasn't enough, he couldn't match the power and viciousness of Medusa. He stared into the eyes of Medusa's serpent and was turned into a stone statue. Perseus arrived just in time to find the stone statue of his friend. Overwhelmed with rage and power, he fought Medusa, a fight that brought down the walls of the temple. He decapitated Medusa out of rage.

    He had thwarted another attempt of Hera, his stepmother to kill the mortal,the girl he was uncontrollably in love with.He would have to kill Hera if he wanted the mortal to live as he was aware that his stepmother wouldn't stop at anything to get what she wants.The least he could do for her was to give her the elixir, the eternal life portion but the elixir could only be found in Athens, the abode of the gods, the place he ran away from. Soon the mortal became acquainted with Perseus, they became bosom friends much to the displeasure of other gods who were also obsessed with the beauty of the mortal.
 
    Minerva, the goddess of wisdom, a strategist in warfare and a disciple of Hades knew of what would happen should Ares, the god of war find out about the mortal. Ares, who had been informed of the luscious mortal gave little attention to her.Minerva, who was wise knew that if only Ares could behold the luscious mortal, he would also be captivated by her beauty and as the god of war, would stop at nothing to have her thus making Perseus his adversary.
 
    On one beautiful morning, Ares sat on his magnificent throne observing the earth and its people when his eyes caught the mortal taking her bathe. The sight alone jerked him off his throne,he couldn't believe what be was seeing. His eyes were lost in her beauty. He gawped at her breasts and her perfectly shaped figure with wild excitement as thousand thoughts of  having her on his bed rushed through his mind. He watched her pale skin glisten in the light of the mild sun rays.Her braid olive coloured hair ran down the steep slope of her back as she washed her body. Her eyes,he noticed had the colour of the blue sea ,they were charming and elegant. Her beauty alone could quell a raging storm. Then did he spot his half brother, Perseus, his expression changed. His eyes kindled up in flames as he felt anger flow through his veins like molten magma.He was furious,furious that Perseus, a god, made himself known to the mortal,it was something gods were forbidden to do.Physical interaction wasn't condoned. Quickly,he ordered for the immediate arrest of Perseus and the mortal.Minerva's strategy was in place, Perseus was now an archenemy of Ares. Another war was looming.
