Realising what Danaë had done,Ares sent out his mercenaries to earth in search of Perseus and the thunderbolt. He declared Perseus wanted and promised to reward anyone be it a god or a mortal who had any information about his whereabouts and that of the mortal.
Ares gave Bellona the task of finding the mortal as he knew she was the only person who could lure Perseus out,she was the perfect bait.
Stheno was on her personal revenge mission of finding Perseus ,she planned on killing Perseus the same way he killed her sister and keeping the thunderbolt to herself.
She dreamt of replacing Zeus as the supreme ruler of other gods and that'll only be possible if she weld the thunderbolt.
Soon, news of the stolen thunderbolt spread through Athens like wild fire ,the gods were well aware of the powress the thunderbolt possessed, this made them eager to find Perseus and claim the thunderbolt disregarding Ares and his reward scheme.
Hades, keeper of the underworld was aware of the trending news in Athens, he summoned Minerva, the goddess of wisdom.Minerva, wisely predicted where Perseus would be heading which was no place other than Hercules temple.
Minerva was indeed wise as it was true,Perseus was heading to Hercules temple as he planned on rescuing the mortal from his stepbrother.
At the entrance of Hercules temple,he met the guards who he dispatched easily as he gained free entrance into Hercules palace. The palace was as tranquil as a deep tunnel which made Perseus suspicious.
He knew his stepbrother to be a party fanatic but surprisingly, there was no music whatsoever, there was no party that night which only meant one thing,he was an expected guest.
Perseus heard of an old tale, the tale of how mighty Hercules captured the most feared griffin,a creature with the body of a lion tail of a snake, head and wings of an eagle. It was rumoured that Hercules kept the Griffin as a pet in his palace,a rumour Perseus hoped was untrue.
Suddenly, the light of the palace flickered and behold Perseus saw the silhouette of one of the most feared monster in Athens, the Griffin.
Perseus quickly hid himself from the parading Griffin, his mission at Hercules temple was to rescue the mortal and not fight the vicious monster.Like a desperate mouse in search of cheese,he sneaked into Hercules chambers where he found Hercules battle ready.
He was in his glamorous goldplated armor flanked with his sword and shield ready to fight.Perseus pleaded with Hercules to hand over the mortal but his pleas fell on deaf ears.
Hercule wasn't ready to hand over the mortal without a fight,a fight he was confident he would win.Perseus was reluctant to fight his half brother but Hercules was keen on fighting Perseus .
He charged at Perseus hitting him hard with his shield ,the impact tossed Perseus to the other side of the room as he crashed into a porcelain portrait of the beautiful Aphrodite, in the process revealing the glorious thunderbolt concealed in his tunic.
Hercules stared at the most priced weapon in wonderment,he couldn't believe his eyes.Zeus thunderbolt was there staring at him.He could have the most feared weapon in Athens to himself if and only if he got rid of Perseus.
With the thunderbolt in his possession,he'll rule Athens and become Zeus successor, he'll make all the gods kneel before him, even Zeus second in command,Poseidon, the god of the sea.
Drunk with lust for the thunderbolt,he aimed his sword at Perseus who was trying to get back on his feet.Perseus caught the sword in mid-air and broke it into two much to the surprise of Hercules.
Perseus reinstated his desire to get the mortal without a fight but Hercules didn't care as he was overwhelmed by the thought of wielding the thunderbolt.
Hercules picked up a dagger axe from the sword hanger on the stucco coated wall of his chamber and attacked Perseus ,this time with great ferocity. Perseus had no choice but to fight Hercules, a battle many would term David vs Goliath, with Perseus being the David.
Perseus was no match for Hercules as he was overpowered, deprived of the thunderbolt and tossed into the Griffin's den.Perseus laid in the Griffin's den debilitated with blood smeared all over his body.
But something in the den jerked him up to his wobbling feet,he saw the mortal chained to a rock beside the opened cage of the Griffin.
Slowly,he approached the rock she was braced to,he broke the chains off here hands and feet and was about leading her out of the Cage's entrance when he heard a ghoulish roar that made the den tremble,it was Athens most feared creature, the griffin.
Quickly,Perseus hid the mortal, as monsters like the Griffin preyed on mortals. The Griffin emerged from its dark cage,it was a monster forged from darkness.
Many claimed it was once a pet of Hades used to safe guard the underworld, while others claimed it was an anonymous powerful goddess who transformed into the vicious monster.
The griffin with its swirling tail attacked Perseus who failed in his attempt to dodge its tail.
With its sharp beak,it charged at Perseus, trying to impale him but Perseus was fast,he spinned to the other side as it beak hit the ground, it had missed.
Perseus charged at the griffin but wasn't fast enough, with its tail it brought an airborne Perseus to the ground. It lifted its legs ready to crush Perseus but Perseus held its legs firm, preventing it from from bringing it down.
Its sharp claws stared stared at Perseus head as its talons were dangerously getting closer to his eyes, his hands were trembling , wobbliness was setting in,he couldn't hold its legs for much longer.
