Chapter Three

Ares was aware that capturing Perseus was an uphill task,so he sent someone he knew was able to match Perseus strength, he sent Bellona, the goddess of war and the sister of Mars.

In a jiffy,the words of Ares reached Perseus ears. He knew he couldn't defeat his half brother alone so he solicited for help.Perseus prayed to Hercules, his half brother, the god who possessed exceptional strength to come to his aid.Hercules answered the prayer of Perseus and came to his aid.

Together, Perseus and Hercules fought against Bellona. It was a heated battle as Bellona matched Hercules for strength. She was an aggressive fighter like Ares who fought with uncontrollable bloodlust. But Hercules with his grandeur of strength was able to withstand Bellona. When Bellona realised that she was close to being defeated, she requested for help.She summoned herds of centaurs which are vicious half-man half-horse creatures that ran wild,they were ruthless monsters.

On seeing the impending danger,Hercules and Perseus scurried to safety. They had again thwarted another attempt to capture the mortal but for how long?

Perseus thanked Hercules for coming to his aid as without his help he wouldn't have been able to withstand Bellona.Hercules requested to see the mortal whose beauty he heard was ravishing. He was enthralled at the sight of the mortal,her beauty made him numb as he stood motionless,staring at the mortal as she made her way to Perseus. He had never seen beauty in such calibre, even amongst the goddess he knew,non was as beautiful as she was. She indeed was a mortal worth fighting for.

That night,Hercules intoxicated Perseus, he bounded him and fled with the mortal.Perseus woke up to discover that the mortal and Hercules were missing.He searched for them but couldn't find them,then did it dawn on him that Hercules, his half brother whom he confided in had kidnapped the mortal.He felt disappointed and enraged.Soon,he found himself surrounded by herds of centaurs,he had been setup.He couldn't fight as they were just too much for him.

Persues was captured and taken to Athens to face Ares as the whereabout of Hercules and the mortal remained unknown.At Athens, Perseus was put in prison and tortured by Ares. Ares wanted to know the whereabouts of the mortal which Perseus had no idea of.He narrated to Ares how she was kidnapped by Hercules but he didn't believe him.Ares promised to make Perseus suffer and eventually strip him of his power if he refused to disclose the location of the mortal.

Meanwhile,Stheno the eldest and most ferocious sister of Medusa had wanted to take her revenge on persues for killing her mortal sister.She found out where Perseus was being imprisoned and decided to kill him. The night she was to carry out the deadly act,chaos broke out in Athens.Zeus weapon, the thunderbolt which was the most powerful weapon a god has ever weilded was missing.After Zeus death,the thunderbolt was claimed by Hades, but during the war,Ares recovered it and kept it in the secret chamber of the palace.A thief broke in and stole the weapon Hades used to kill Zeus. Ares in anger killed all the gods in charge of protecting the palace secret chamber.He ordered for the thunderbolt thief to be found and the thunderbolt recovered.

Believing Perseus had an hand In the theft of the thunderbolt, Ares requested for his presence.Perseus was brought to Ares bounded in fetters,hands,feet and neck,he was also escorted by Bellona. Ares interrogation of persues didn't go quite well,he got angry and plunged his spear deep into the side of Perseus, impairing him.Perseus fell to the golden marble floor of the palace engulfed in his pool of blood as he wriggled in pain.Ares lifted him up with a hand and tossed him to the far end corner of the room as his temple connected with the statue of his father shattering it as they both went down in a thud.
