Alexis, Chapter 13
He had been to her house! The door had been broken in and everything! I had just been to her house to see if she was okay and she had gone, and so had Dowger. I dread to think what would have happened if I had been five minutes earlier. But he was after her. If she replied to my text then it meant she had her phone on, and that meant… he could be tracking her right then. Beep beep. My phone displayed a text message. ‘Don’t come after me. There’s no point.’ I just ignored it. I was going to the airport whether she liked it or not. I had taken some of mum’s money, and I was on the bus to the airport. The whole thing was stupid anyway. Why couldn’t they have phoned the police? I guess Dowger must be pretty clever if they were going to the extremes of going abroad. Holly never actually told me where she was, but where else would they be going? Dowger couldn’t exactly track their flight, and it would be harder for him to follow them in another country, wouldn’t it?
When I arrived at the airport, I ran to the car park. I could not see Holly’s car yet, so I decided to text her. I was about to text her when something caught my eye. There was someone moving about on the outskirts of the car park. They looked casual, but there was something about them. The way they were on their own and seemed to be waiting for something. I got closer, and found out that it was a muscular man. He looked strong. He had on an olive green t-shirt and khaki coloured trousers. Oh well, probably just some randomer. I strolled off calmly.
There they were! I could see that pale blue car coming my way. I ran alongside it. Lindsey parked it up hastily and got out of the car.
‘Alexis, what are you doing here?’
‘I don’t know… come to finish him off for you I guess.’
‘You can’t finish him off! You’re only a girl, he’s a huge man,’ said Lindsey.
‘I owe it to you guys,’ I said. I didn’t notice that guy coming towards us. I didn’t notice he had a knife. I didn’t notice he was Dowger until…
