Holly, Chapter 14

‘Put your hands up!’ he said. My heart was racing. All three of us slowly put our hands up. ‘Now… which one of you is Holly Parker?’ I didn’t say anything. Do something; do something Holly, ‘It must be you,’ he said in a horrible, twisted, menacing way, pointing to me .

‘No, it’s me, I’m Holly,’ cried Alexis. I couldn’t let him do this, I had to stop him. Dowger came towards her with his knife. I wanted to run, but I couldn’t. My body physically couldn’t. I squeezed my eyes shut. I heard a piercing scream that was cut off abruptly, then a faint noise in the distance. A siren? I opened my eyes, only to see Alexis on the floor. Dead. This was the worst day of my life.

My mother seemed to be having a panic attack.

‘Calm down, mother, calm down, I said.’

‘I, can’t,’ my mother whispered, breathing quickly.

‘You can, take deep breaths,’ I told her. By the looks of it Dowger had gone after hearing the police sirens. Someone must have called them.

‘He. Was. About. To. Kill meee,’ she cried. The police had arrived. They ushered us into a police car and took us to the station. I told them everything that happened and they were very understanding. Alexis’ body had been taken away, and her parents had been informed of her death. I refused to believe she was dead at first, but now was when it really hit me. Was  she really dead? She was. I let out a huge sob and felt a massive hole opening in my chest. She was really dead. The tears were streaming from my eyes, as I leant into mother. She leant back into me. This was a trauma I would never forget.
