If the Whole World Was Watching...

We leave the comfort of the lawn not long after the phone call disconnects.  Hand in hand we begin to walk around the building.  "This campus is really pretty.  Were you thinking about going here after graduation?"  I stop to ponder his question, I've been asked things like this before but it is usually by prying relatives.  Sebastian just seems curious.

I stop and sit on one of the stone benches that lines the sidewalk.  Sebastian sit next to me, straddling the bench so he can look at me, he puts a finger under my chin to turn my face towards him.  "Did I hit a nerve, Princess?"  He looks so cute right now, eyes full of question and concern.

I bite my lip and give off a small sigh.  "No, I'm okay Seb.  I used to get asked that question a lot.  Being the daughter of professors it always felt like they were pushing me to decide.  Be a teacher. Be a doctor. And now that senior year is here I just feel a little behind.  Kurt, Rachel and Blaine are all dreaming of New York and I don't even know what I want to do.  Where I want to be. I mean I love to sing and dance but I'm not nearly good enough to be able to make a career of it. I just don't know..."

My words are cut off by Sebastian's lips on mine. My eyes flutter closed and I wrap my arms around his neck, allowing myself to get lost in the kiss.  I melt into his touch as he tangles his fingers in my hair.  Eventually we need to stop, otherwise I may pass out from lack of oxygen.  "Sebastian as much as I enjoyed it, what was that for??"  He smiles at me and gently kisses my forehead, moving his hands to take mine from around his neck.  Keeping my hands in his he places small kisses on each of my knuckles.

He raises his eyes from my hands to look into my own so sincerely, I could get lost in those piercing green eyes. "You were rambling again, so I figured it was the easiest way to get you to stop. To get your attention...." He stops and reaches out to push my hair back behind my ear. "Love, never question your talent. The only difference between you and Berry is that she is blindly determined, ruthless even. You are beautiful, sweet, smart and incredibly talented. I am honored to call you mine when I know so many guys would kill to have you instead.  I know anything you decide on you will succeed at."

Oh my goodness.... How am I this lucky? How is he THIS sweet??

I blush and whisper back, "Thank you Sebastian." He blinks at me as if contemplating my response. "Umm...you're welcome???"

I giggle and stand up, pulling him back to his feet. He still looks confused so I press a small kiss to his cheek, "Thank you for being the sweetest boyfriend, fiancé ever. I do know one thing for certain, I want to spend my future with you." Sebastian's eyes light up and a smile returns to his lips.

We start walking around again and he points to a big chapel at the end of the Cathedral Lawn. There seem to be a large crowd gathering around it.  We hear a lot of cheering as a happy couple comes running out of the doors.  Instantly I realize what is going on.  I excitedly grab onto Sebastian's arm and squeal, "Look Sebby, it's a wedding!!!"

We watch them from afar, clearly in their early twenties, being cheered on and congratulated by their families. More spectators like us have gathered to watch the celebrations unfold.  "Oh my goodness Seb! Look at how cute they are.... Her dress is just so amazing.   Sebby, look!!"  I go to reach for Sebastian's arm again but oddly it's no longer there.

"Sebby??"

I look around for him.  "Seb??"

A kindly older woman gives me a smile as I turn towards her.  She points behind me.  So I call for him one last time as I turn around.

"Sebast..."

My words die as I try to speak them once I get a glimpse of Sebastian, kneeling behind me. My hands fly up to my face in shock as he smiles up at me, green eyes sparkling. He motions for me to give him one of my hands, so I remove one from my face and place it on his outstretched palm. I look at him with wide eyes as he begins.

"Shannon Lynn, I know I've asked you this before. Quite a few times actually.  Never like this, with so many people around but..."

I just raise an eyebrow at him, he's stalling. Clearly nervous. He gives a resolute nod and then continues.

"Well the first time, my heart knew something my mind wasn't ready to admit yet. Which is why I just kinda blurted it out and surprised both of us. By the time my mind caught up I couldn't wait until I saw you again, which explains the text message. I know Love, I still need to talk to your parents and Blaine. Because if today taught us anything, he will kill us if we just run away. Anyway, I'm rambling again..."

I nod at him. At least he realizes it himself this time. I give him an encouraging smile as I blush. He smiles in return seeming to gain more confidence.

"Shannon Lynn Anderson, I love you with all my heart, mind, body and soul. I cannot seem to imagine my life without you in it. I know we are young but like we've said before we just know what we want. And Princess, I just want you. Forever. So Shannon, will you do me the honor of marrying me??"

I can feel the eyes of everyone on us, listening and waiting for my response. I blink rapidly to clear the tears that are gathering in my eyes. He raises an eyebrow and smirks at me. "Shann??"

I nod down at him suddenly at a loss for words. A shy smile on my face, nodding like a silly bobble headed doll. Sebastian just laughs up at me, "What was that Pretty Girl? I didn't quite hear you..."

So mean to tease me in a situation like this, with so many people watching. I can't help the gigantic smile on my face when I finally respond. "Yes!!! Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!!! Oh my God!! Sebastian, yes! A thousand times, yes!!!"

In one swift motion he rises to his feet and pulls me in towards him.  Gathering me in his arms, his lips find mine in a searing kiss.  We lose all sense of our surroundings and just stand there, kissing each other.  It is not until I begin to hear clapping do we separate.  I can feel the blush heating up my cheeks as I notice the crowd around us.  Everyone is now watching us, even the wedding party at the chapel below.

I hide my face as Sebastian waves at everyone. He kisses my forehead and then whispers to me, "Love, why don't we get out of here..." I look into his eyes and just nod shyly.

We turn to leave,  grasping each other's hands and interlacing our fingers.  The nice old lady from before stops me before we leave.  "Congratulations young lady. He is quite the handsome lad. Best wishes to you both." Her comments cause Sebastian to start blushing as well. I giggle softly as I pull him back across the lawn in the direction that we came from.

"So what do two 17 year olds do now to celebrate a very public proposal?"

I turn to Sebastian and he is still smiling, happier than I have ever seen him before. I sigh happily. "Well..."

He raises an eyebrow at me, anticipating my response so I continue.

"We've adulted enough, so I think two 17 years olds celebrating a super sweet and very public engagement should go for ice cream. There is a cute little place just past the coffee shop."

He squeezes my hand and places a small kiss to my temple. "Well then lead the way Mrs Smythe."
