Fire Emblem Awakening was the intended to be the last game of the Fire Emblem series unless total sales exceeded 250,000 copies. This is why the game was filled with so many references to previous games, such as Owain's "SACRED STONES!!!". However, Awakening exceeded expectations, selling over 1.9 million copies worldwide.
