"Hailee, I've noticed that when you talk about your brother, you often start playing with a necklace or a bracelet. Is there a reason for that?"
Hailee nods and pulls an army lanyard out of her pocket.
"This," she holds it up, "is a gift from my brother. It hurts thinking of him and knowing he's not here. So having something FROM him is a huge comfort. You'll often notice something wrapped around my hand if I'm having a rough day."
